Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!

So glad he managed to finish that one off in straights. Certainly needs to be more consistent tomorrow against Tursunow though.

Pleased he made his 1st final of the year, now to go claim that title!

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!

Here is today's article in L'Equipe, I can't translate it, sorry, I'll let the French-speaking Paulo fans make a summary. Hagel talks a little bit about the coaching issue too and the possibility of working with Courteau:
Quote:

Metz Final: D.Tursunov def. P-H.Mathieu 7-6(6) 1-6 6-4

A few SP missed in the first set... that's pretty much the one downer of this match. He seems to be playing well this week. Lots of close matches won, good sign!

Plus, the winner trophy is ugly anyway

Congrats Paulo! Keep up the good work Stay healthy and be a tiny bit more lucky next time

I saw the match, arghhhhh.... he played great, but couldn't finish, as often.

The commentators made me laugh, when they said they met paulo's mother just before the match, with a very surprising dog... "a very little dog, in her bag ... and the bag was small lol" They were perplex ! lol

Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!

From the article on the ATP website:

Words from Tursunov:

Quote:
"In the second set he had a lot of chances to attack my second serve and he was successful in doing that," said Tursunov. "As I was two breaks down, Paul-Henri was playing with a lot of confidence. Today there wasn't a big difference. I can't say that I was better than him. He could have broken me as well in the third set."

"It was a good week for me. I started playing better and better with every match. The final was the most difficult match by far."
Words from Paulo

Quote:

"I couldn't do much in the final set," said Mathieu. "He broke me and I couldn't break him which cost me the match. It's tough to lose a match like that. I think that I have to improve two or three things. It's still a good week for me. I hope that I'll win a tournament soon."

Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!

Disappointing that he didn't win, but still a good week and he is playing better tennis than he has for quite a while so that is a big positive.

I saw a total of ONE game!

Poor little dog
Another living thing that has to suffer through Paulo's match

I remember the Mathieu family used to have a siberian husky, didn't they? This is a big (small?) change

Rarely see the family and the gf's presence at the same match... not get along too well Kidding, Quiterie

Kind words from Tursunov

Quote:
"I couldn't do much in the final set," said Mathieu. "He broke me and I couldn't break him which cost me the match. It's tough to lose a match like that. I think that I have to improve two or three things. It's still a good week for me. I hope that I'll win a tournament soon."
That's the logic to EVERY MATCH! Finally, he'll learn to NOT get borken and win the match

Now this is the change! Paulo talking about actually "winning" a tournament! Confidence booster! Why can't all tourneys played in France?
