Exclamation *~* Andy into round 2 at the US Open *~*

Unfortunatley he has to go through quallies to get to the main draw as he did not recieve a wildcard.

Wild Cards went out to Jan Michael Gambill, Mark Flip and a bunch of young Americans who'll all lose 1st round

Edit...HES IN THE MAIN DRAW!!!!!!!!!

Edit Edit...Bring on r2

Dmitry Tursunov

Re: *~* Andy at the Open *~*

When is the qualifying draw made? Monday sometime? It'll be interesting to follow how he does. I followed Alex last year and he was exciting, although I did get cross with him losing to Calatrava

Andy Murray, Jonny Marray
Jamie Baker, Ross Hutchins, Richard Bloomfield, Colin Fleming
Roddick, Goffin, Karlovic, Inglot, Isner
Brown, Brands, Tsonga

Re: *~* Andy at the Open *~*

Dissappointing about the wildcards frankly as those bunch of "young americans" include three players (baker, ram and reynolds) who Murray has beaten this year without losing a set to any of them! But patriotism rules in these things so it is not unexpected.

Let's hope Murray is seeded in the qualifying draw and makes it through!!

Does anyone know if ranking points are up for grabs in qualifying?

That's a good question. After checking I think this is the relevant (entry points) information:

Additional points in qualifying:
Qualifying Second First
Round Round Round
Grand Slams 8 4 1

and 15 additional points to any US Open proper points if you win all 3 qualifying matches and make the main draw.

In terms of race points you only get 3 (+main draw points) if you qualify. So qualification and a first round loss is 4 race points and 20 entry points. Hope that helps.

Jamie Baker, Ross Hutchins, Richard Bloomfield, Colin Fleming
Roddick, Goffin, Karlovic, Inglot, Isner
Brown, Brands, Tsonga

Re: *~* Andy at the Open *~*

Hmm, bit disappointing considering there's other people lower in the rankings than him and most of them are american but at Wimbie we do give most of our wc's to brits so it's just the same as there.

I don't know for sure. I think there are 32 seeds though I could easily be wrong, my memory from last year is terrible!
Judging by the qualifying entry list and what Andy's ranking might be come Monday, I'm gonna take a stab at somewhere around 15th seed. We'll have to wait til Monday night, well Tuesday morning for us Brits unless we're devoted enough to stay up til 4am for the draw!

Re: *~* Andy at the Open *~*

I don't like the sound of this article one bit. If it's true he might pull out of qualies

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...743475,00.html

The being unable to practice and constantly having to ice it and it stopping him sleeping is most concerning, especially when recently I heard that doctors confirmed it wouldn't stop him playing the qualies

Poor Andy. Hope he gets better and if he can't do the qualies, there is always next year.

Re: *~* Andy at the Open *~*

Hopefully Andy will be fit to play the qualies, but if he does have to withdraw then it's not the end of the world - the last thing he needs is to aggravate this injury and not be able to improve his ranking in the rest of 2005.

Get well soon
