Marat...he is one of my favourites actually, but I think this win for Andy would be enormous for his confidence, and not to say, his ranking too! So c'mon Andy, show us what u got!

He controlled himself really really well but did celebrate in the 2nd set breaker especially when he got himself the match point!

brought a smile to my face

I watched his match, very enjoyable performance, and he has reigned in his actions a bit His post match comments were very mature & sensible

I hope he performs well against Marat today.

Good Luck Andy

Re: The 'Mashing Murray Masters' Cincinnati thread!

We all hope he performs well. It would be AMAZING if he can win, but really we just want to see in his first meeting against a player at the top level the signs that when he is nearing more of a peak that he might be the equal (or better) of a Safin. Safin's serve isn't going to blow Murray away so it will be interesting to see how the rallies work out!!!

Re: The 'Mashing Murray Masters' Cincinnati thread!

I was just wondering the same thing? IF he has to play US Open qualifying he won't be playing anywhere and he will just be resting up for that! Otherwise maybe he would get a WC for Pilot Pen??

After watching the match yesterday v safin it is clear his body is telling him its time for a rest. He looked a little low in that match and had the obvious problem with his shoulder which affected his serve. Rest up and be fully pumped up for the Open is the best thing he can do. He has been playing a lot of tennis, needs a wee break i think!

He does have to play the US Open qualifies, and anyway he would have been forced into taking a much needed rest as there aren't any Pilot Pen WCs available with people like Safin and Henman getting offered them.

Shame he lost to Marat, but he's still developing and he should be top 100 after the USO I'm hoping.
