Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

I am slightly worried about this one. Just that score in Rotterdam isn't very convincing, Andy obviously cant deal with his game that easily, and Andy was playing quite well back then too.

Can't watch it, but I'll catch up on i-player if Andy wins .

Go Andy!

Well, this result should put to rest any false hopes that Gicquel had about beating him when fit.

Happy with his performance so far - economical efficiency. Just don't put his foot off the gas even against Serra, who had a brutal five-setter today.

61 64 63

Not too bad - still nowhere near top gear, didn't need to be I suppose, based on that scoreline - Gicquel did push him to raise his level at times in the last two sets though.

Next up Florent Serra, who overcame Jarkko Nieminen in a tough 5 setter which finished after Andy's match.

Andy is 3rd up on Hisense against Serra in the day session. So that's a 3-4amer.

I don't like the way he's rubbing his back Hope it eases off and he doesn't have to call for the trainer!

Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

yeah this is a concern - but thus far he seems able to play through it okay so maybe it's just a twinge or spasm that he can get rubbed out later.

Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

i'm all for players not taking unnecessary timeouts but Andy seems to have a macho aversion to taking any timeouts at all even when there seems to be a reason for one quite clearly.
