Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

Andy plays 3rd match on Laver, after Sharapova v Kirilenko and Clijsters v Tetreault
So we're looking at maybe 2.30am UK time? I always need help with timezones

Yeah more like 3 I suspect if the ladies matches last over the hour, plus the turnaround between matches.

Not the most ideal timing but hey ho.

BBC say 3am for their coverage. I'll be setting the alarm for 2.30 just in case

Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

Andy wins 61 61 62

Good overall off the ground today I thought, but ended up with about 33% first serves over the course of the whole match, which is way too low. He got away with that today, Anderson was pretty lost and pathetic from start to finish, but he'll want to urgently address those numbers for R2.

Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

I'm delighted Andy cruised through the first round - important to save energy. Needs to be wary of complacency as it certainly won't be a walk in the park hereon. The poor first serve percentage can come back to bite him against a better quality opponent, so hope that improves. Glad though that he's mixing his game up nicely, a bit more savvy about attacking options - may he go from strength to strength. Great start, keep going Andy!

33% 1st serve
Pretty mental he managed to win so convincingly then! Just watching the rerun now, I really wasn't very awake this morning after getting sucked into the snooker last night!

Re: Australian Open - Beat the Heat (and the field)

Andy next up Wednesday morning 8am on Margaret Court vs Marc Gicquel

They've played once, Rotterdam last year en route to Andy winning the title - Gicquel took it to a third set before retiring 0-3 down in the final set with an injury.

So this might be tricky, definitely has the potential to be the banana skin match of week 1.
