If there is a weaker challenger out there I haven't seen it.

Haha, damn you caught me. Meant futures in any case.

Hard to read anything into a clay court futures event held in India!

Re: 16 years old Patrick Ciorcila reach his first Futures Final !

I was afraid of someone starting a thread on this subject over here.

This board is so polluted with hate that nobody has any chance of appreciation, no matter how young or talented he is.

Anyway, it's much too early to say Patrick will have a glorious future. It's how he chooses his next challenges that will answer this question. What is valid for Quinzi, is valid for Patrick. His game style favors both clay and hard, but he needs more power in order to be effective on hard. If anything, these victories, even against not-in-shape players and even if in India, have a major morale impact on him, and will help him create a strong will to constantly improve his game.

Appreciation for what? Beating two no-name Indians in a futures event on clay?

Don't get me wrong, I hope he is a huge talent and has a great career, but winning a futures in India would mean very little other than a decent amount of ranking points for him due to the quality of the field being pretty much non-existant.

There's 4 clay court futures events this week and this one along Turkey is significantly weaker than the other two.

Why people feel the need to make players the "next big thing" is beyond me.

Franky made the same comments when someone made a thread for Kyrgios when he won a challenger not too long ago. Always looking to spread hate just when OP is looking for a bit of excitement from other ppl. It's too bad there's ppl like you on these threads. Would be a bit more cheerful without you personally

Bernard Tomic
Grigor Dimitrov
Richard Gasquet
Nick Kyrgios

In the third paragraph of my post I said exactly what you're saying here, and I for one am not calling Patrick "the next big thing" simply for a Futures in India. And the posts made after the OP and before mine are not the reason I fear opening such a thread. There is no hate in this thread yet.

It's very hard to start a career in today's tennis. The physical pace is inhuman. We should be patient in waiting for the next big thing, and at the same time understanding to the juniors still wanting to pull through.

Wing Man Frank has successfully taken the Vulture theory over to Futures tournaments. Lenders would be proud.

i would put it this way: it would be worrying thing for his career if he *didn't beat* these unknowns on his way to the final

got lucky with crivoi's injury though, vic won 2 futures in india back to back previous weeks

I like the look of Quinzi, has been playing in stronger futures fields and getting some decent results. Only just turned 17 too.

There needs to be a sense of realism involved. I want to see the next Federer or Nadal appear, but this desire to overstate a youngsters achievements is ridiculous.

Yea, we are all so hyped up because someone won Indian futures, a reality check is desperately needed.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

If someone wasn't hyped up, why was this thread created?

As Nathaliia if he couldn't beat these players that would be more worrying.

Ok then, no threads until the slam final I guess
