Pere Riba

He qualified and reaching the 2R in Umag, will vs. Moya.

He rises 214 spots from #612 to #398 since April, I am very impressive.

Re: Pere Riba

yeah, it's good for him...though Moya will be tough to beat in Umag since it's like his second home lol

the only advantage some of these lower ranked players sometimes have over the top guys is that the top guys are often unsure how to play them, so they can occasionally surprise them. let's see..

You were right in the first part, AndyMurrayFan The second one is much more difficult though.

April 5th, 2010: The day where Pere Riba will enter the Top-100. Congrats Pere, and keep going

Re: Pere Riba

Pere qualified this week in Munich and made the second round, defeating Lacko in 3 sets before losing to Berdych 5-7 1-6. He's further solidified is position in the top 100, and may be getting a WC into Madrid this week coming up. He's had a good season and is starting to put together his potential.

Good luck at your future tournaments Pere!

Re: Pere Riba

Pere did in fact get a WC to the main draw for Madrid, here is his section of the draw:

Bellucci - Riba
Monaco - Greul
Almagro - Troicki
Bye - Soderling

Very difficult section of the draw, Bellucci will be a very tough mountain to climb over for him, and all of the players in that section are good players. Hopefully the home country support will help drive him to do great things in the match vs. Bellucci and he can cause a couple of upsets during the week. Good luck, Pere!

Re: Pere Riba

Pere has a 1-6 match record this season, winning his first round at the Australian Open over Montanes in four sets. He qualified for Acapulco but went 0-4 in main draws during the Golden Swing in Latin America. He qualified and won a match at both Monte Carlo and Madrid last year but outside of that doesn't defend much the first half of the season, so hopefully he can get some wins soon and improve on his current provisional ranking of #82. He's playing the Rabat and Marrakech challengers in Morocco in the upcoming next two weeks so hopefully he has a big run in at least one of the events!
