I also like it much more when he is on fire, but if waiting for errors works, why not doing it? He saved the fire for later matches.

Those were his tactics, Gilles...
i just heard what Simon said: that guy is just a joke!!!

Richard!

Didn't see the match, but from the scoreline it looks pretty good. He has a huge opportunity in the next round so he has to take advantage of it. He could not of asked for a better first three rounds.

Allez Richard

Richard's scheduled as the 3rd match on court 11 tomorrow, although apparantly bad weather is expected so play is unlikely.

Re: ++++++ North American Hardcourt Season 2006 ++++++

He wins against Chiudinelli 7-6 (2), 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (2). Third set on was just nervewracking, I hope it was Chiudenilli who was playing really well and not Richard misfiring. He has to play Hewitt next. At least he's defended his points, anything from here is a bonus.

I am a fan of Federer, Gasquet, Baghdatis, the long-deceased Safin, Youzhny, Nalbandian, Rochus, Tsonga, the sadly-departed Santoro, and good, hearty, competitive tennis matches. The quality of my life does not rest solely on who wins these matches. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that I can live quite happily after a player I like chokes, mugs, bashes, or otherwise succumbs to a loss.

I saw the whole match, and richard played an ugly game...everything was off today-serve, forehand, return...but he just found a way to win which is good, cos for you to be at the top you have to find a way to win even when you are not playing well. I just pray Richard can somehow fix his game before he meets Hewitt, which might be tomorrow . He has to be more aggressive in his returns, and step into the court. I hope Eric would address this issue

I didn't know Richie was playing that badly. (USA network was showing Roddick/Verdasco match) This makes me less confident in him beating Hewitt, who from I hear, is playing well.

Wimbledon Upsets:
Safin def. Djokovic 6-4, 7-6, 6-2
Schuettler def. Blake 6-3, 6-7, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4
Kudryavtseva def. Sharapova 6-2, 6-4
Tipsarevic def. Roddick 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 7-6
Dancevic def. Nalbandian 6-4, 6-2, 6-4
Zheng def. Ivanovic 6-1, 6-4
Tanasugarn def. Jankovic 6-3, 6-2
Radwanska def. Kuznetsova 6-4, 1-6, 7-5

Really? From the stats you could see that Chiudinelli was being more aggressive hence the bigger number of winners and unforced errors on his part, but Richard ended up with a bunch of aces and winners himself, and relatively few unforced errors for a tight 4-setter. Plus, his first two sets were pretty clean. What was particularly ugly about it?

Anyway, I'm glad he won and defended his points. I really believe he can go far in this tournament. He needs to be more focused and be much more aggressive without being too inconsistent. It's a tough task, but he can do it. I'd hate if he started to accomadate himself into this defensive game he's been showing lately.

Well, congrats on the win and good luck against Lleyton! I hope I can see this match, but it'll probably be early in the afternoon the next few days and I have class at that time.

Re: ++++++ North American Hardcourt Season 2006 ++++++

Does anyone know if Richie's match against Hewitt will be televised? You know how USA/Espn are with Richie's matches. I think I only saw him once last year in the US open and they cut off the last set for Law and Order. But on the plus side, ESPN did show most of Richie's matches in the Toronto masters series.

Wimbledon Upsets:
Safin def. Djokovic 6-4, 7-6, 6-2
Schuettler def. Blake 6-3, 6-7, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4
Kudryavtseva def. Sharapova 6-2, 6-4
Tipsarevic def. Roddick 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 7-6
Dancevic def. Nalbandian 6-4, 6-2, 6-4
Zheng def. Ivanovic 6-1, 6-4
Tanasugarn def. Jankovic 6-3, 6-2
Radwanska def. Kuznetsova 6-4, 1-6, 7-5

He's defended last year's points, so that's good Now I have little expectations about him beating Hewitt the way their respective matches went today, but Richard has surprised us in the past...It would be great for him to reach his first Grand Slam quarter final after such bad luck in the other slams this year. Good luck Richie, I think you'll need it
