Richard's grass season 2016

Richard withdraw from s-Hertogenbosch (where he was seeded #1) with a foot/ankle injury.
Hopefully he is fine.

So his schedule for the grass season is now Queen's & Wimbledon.

@ Queen's, he should be seeded #8 according to the MTF entry list thread. Last year he made R2 (eliminated by Raonic).

He has SF points to defend @ Wimbledon. Hopefully he will have a boosted ranking up to #8 there.

ALLEZ !!

Gasquet ● B.Baker ● Soderling ● Wawrinka ● Federer ● Goffin ● Sijsling ● Youzhny ● Thiem ● Gulbis ● Mahut ● Brown ● F.Mayer ● Tomic

Re: Richard's grass season 2016

Looking forward to the Grass season, it's a shame Richard had to withdraw from s-Hertz considering you don't play many grass court tournaments a year but it was a good decision after his Roland Garros run.

Richard will be the 4th seed after Nadal withdrew.

Nadal is out and Richie passed Tsonga & Cilic in the ranking, but shoudn't he be 5th seed instead after Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro and Raonic?

Del Potro is using his protected ranking at #7 to get him into the tournament, it won't be his seed as he's currently ranked at #223.

Good! Thanks (I wasn't sure how PR worked).

So he'll be seeding to reach the SF But there should be some potential big threats in the draw anyway (Kyrgios, Tomic...)

Re: Richard's grass season 2016

Wimbledon will be the real test. That's a looot of point to defend. I'm so glad he made it easier with some QF point cushion from RG.
Any updates on his injury though? It hate the fact that the best from France are so injury prone. Gael, Jo, now Richard (again)? Just when I thought we would have 3 of them together in the top 10

Easy R1, R2 to get started on the grass season.

Funny that I perceive that the possible QF line-up pose less trouble than his possible R2 opponents . Dolgo will be very dangerous I think

Re: Richard's grass season 2016

I don't know what happened in the first set. Richard was leading 4-0 and the score in now 5-5.
The match has been interrupted by rain.

Re: Richard's grass season 2016

I saw the score when he was serving at *3-0 in the first, up two breaks. And then

Johnson was in terrible form. He got thrashed by Kozlov last week. And he had never defeated a top 10 player ever.

Terrible terrible terrible loss. Now directly Wimbledon where he defends SF points

Re: Richard's grass season 2016

I was at the match yesterday.

After Richard fell, he never trusted the court after, some of his movement moving forward he looked worried he might slip. He should never have lost that 1st set.
It was dreadful weather yesterday, on and off which didn't help.

He has the Hurlington exho next week.... He needs more matches on the grass before Wimbledon. Maybe ask for a Nottingham WC?

Re: Richard's grass season 2016

I worry a bit, since last year he only got defeated by players ranked higher than him during the grass period. But people say that RG has always been exhausting mentally for him, so probably this is just a tiny bip that he can manage during the Championship. Let's hope he got some poor server for his R1 match :worry:

Yep, no grass preparation is a little bit scary
I hope for a nice draw with some grassmug in R1 and also that he will land in one of the swisses quarters. Fingers crossed.

Allez !
