Richard ist still 700 points behind Ferrer, what I definitely do not want is that he exhausts himself for a potential place in London and gets injured on the way. He started the year as Nr. 26, he missed four M1000, it does not have to be London for me, Top 10 would be very fine.

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

I felt the same way two years ago: I don't think he should push too hard for WTF. It isn't good for his confidence if he tries too hard and exhausts himself and then gets a 0-3 beating in WTF.

Either way, him coming so close despite playing so few MS is really great

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

totally agree here
That he is even in contention given the fact that he missed so many important tournaments due to injury , is incredible
Frankly , when he had to withdraw from IW , I feared he might not be back playing again this year . And I think at that particular moment , Seb felt exactly the same way
He was really worried that this back thing might have been a career ender , and told me so himself .
So I hope Richard does not push - that he continues to train in this new fitness regime and play strong solid tennis with a top ten goal in mind .

Now , do you think we can get him to drop that bizarre exho tour in the offseason ? Let's hope so

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

His last year's result. Few points to defend. Imo, he should be focus more on European indoor season than these asian's tours (Valencia, Vienna)
- Shenzen : Lost to Juan Monaco in QF (45 pts)
- Beijing: Lost to Rafael Nadal (2) in R32 (0 pts)
- Shanghai : Lost to Tomas Berdych in R32 (45 pts)
- Paris: Lost Roberto Bautista Agut to in R32 (45 pts)

His best result in each tournament. Asian swing was never his forte
- Kuala Lumpur: 2009, QF, lost to Fernando Verdasco
- Tokyo: 2007, Final, lost to David Ferrer
- Shanghai: 2010, R16, lost to Novak Djokovic
- Paris: 2007, Final, lost to David Nalbandian

And agree with everyone: he's doing really great despite missing those big tournaments. And health should be his priority, I want him to play a full season of 2016.

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

Murray indicated that he is likely to focus on DC and skip WTF.
Which makes Gasquet likely to qualify.(some part of me hopes he doesn't)
Most likely contendors:

Gasquet 2355
Anderson 2205
Isner 2180
Cilic 1965

Anderson and Isner don't have as much scope to put on points on smaller tournaments as Gasquet and Cilic do.

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

Kuala Lumpur has a very strong field for a 250, but I think Richard will win. Out of form players like Ferrer and Kyrgios who he should probably beat.

On the WTF. If Murray pulls out that's not good. The only member of the big 4 Richard usually plays well against is Murray (although hes been competitive with Djokovic), He cant draw Ferrer so he would have to hope that he draws Berdych over Wawrinka, and Nishikori over Nadal. I suppose being drawn with Djokovic, Berdych and Nishikori I would tip him to come second. On the flip side he could have Fed, Stan and Nadal

According to the tournament 's facebook , Richard has withdrawn from Kuala Lumpur because of the injury.

Hope, nothing serious.

I think this withdrawal is more about fatigue than injury.

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

This draw is indeed full of traps, but I hope Richard will get through to the semis at least.

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia!! Race To London!!

Richard wasn't injured. RBA was really good after he broke back.

Richard didn't hold serve after he held for a 4-1 lead in the 1st!

Still in the doubles, hopefully he can get more practice there and some wins!
