Not an easy draw, but I am always suspicious about so called "easy" draws. Here, Richard will have to be ready right away. Allez!

Re: American Spring Break 2013

Richard plays Tomic today on ct 2 . Which has a blockbuster lineup today. I am so excited I actually have a reserved seat for that court , so I don't have to fight for general admission. I will be there cheering him on.
Saw him practice yesterday for a bit with Nalbandian and both were hitting the ball extremely well.
He is here with Seb as his coach this week . I noticed that Richard is looking extremely fit - a credit to him for finally putting in the hard work that was needed to return to the top of the game.
He ,Seb and his trainer were at dinner last night . Seb is quite friendly and charming. Richard is so shy , but pleasant . Hope he plays well today .

Oh you're lucky to be able to see him play live today! I hope you will see a win from Richard!

Tomic is very talented, this could be tricky. Let's see if Bernard have made progress since Bangkok...

Re: American Spring Break 2013

It was a very entertaining match . Some great shots and fun points. At least in the first set. Richard played a great game to break Tomic in that set, and a terrible one to get broken back . I was worried that would give Tomic a spark , but he played a truly poor tiebreak . Richard played very steady in the tb . The second set was not nearly as entertaining with Tomic just spraying errors all over the court.
Will see Richard and Benneteau play dubs today.
We also saw Richard and his team at dinner last night. They were in good spirits after the win . Richard really seems to like working with Seb and ,apparently , chocolate

Re: American Spring Break 2013

Except for the usual drop serve when serving for the set, Richard played a very good match against Tomic. Tomic can be very dangerous but Richard seemed to deal with him very well. Richard was moving better than I've seen him in quite some time. And while he got pinned back behind baseline a bit too much, he did change it up, add aggression when appropriate and was very effective at net. Hope this Richard stays around for a while!

And scmon- too jealous-how I would love to see Seb, Richard and Julian in person. Add Noah to that mix and that's my all time favorite 4 Frenchies.

Re: American Spring Break 2013

The doubles match was really entertaining. Julien and Richard play so well together and seem to enjoy it so much. The only miscue came when Julien double faulted on their first match point at 5-4 in the second set. But they came through in the tiebreaker anyway.
They play again today after Richard's singles match.
Hope Richard is ready to run , because Janowicz loves the drop shot !

Re: American Spring Break 2013

Richard with a convincing win over Janowicz today ! He took full advantage of Jerzys poor swerving percentage in the first set . And he handled the drop shots with ease. Clearly , he had scouted his opponent and knew they were coming. In the second set , Janowicz served better. Richard kept the match on serve with good clutch play of his own. When Janowicz serve faltered , Richard got the break he needed.
So, Berdych next .
He and Benneteau did not fare so well in the doubles , losing in a rather lackluster performance , 6/2-6/2.
Sadly , I have to head home ,and won't see the next match.
Hope he continues the solid play !

French sites report an ankle problem. Did you notice anything?
