Yeah But Ferrer has no particular weapons like Berdych. However he probably won't make many mistakes like Berdych did yesterday. That means he should be more aggressive and go to the net often to hinder him from getting the ball back.

I found that white shirt suits him better. I hope he wears a white shirt more often.

His serve has never been a huge weakness. It has just always been inconsistent. He seems to need time to get rhythm on it. In 05, his serve was on fire from the grasscourt season on but after he injured his elbow, he came back in 06 with a weaker serve and it took him until the DC match against Haas to find some form with it.

So true and a VERY encouraging sign that "Mr. Versatile" is learning to change his game plan. He actually hit a lot of slice backhands and I saw several defensive lobs which he usually does not do - just tries for an outrageous winner.

He must have been working on his serve and it has paid off. Now it's time to tackle the forehand

He played like shit in the final. What kills me is that he is a thousand times more talented that Ferrer, but probably (for the time being, at least) a thousand times less dedicated than 'pics'

As the announcer said "He didn't show up for the party." He still doesn't have the strength mentally or physically to play tough all the way through a tournament. The "I was tired" just doesn't cut it anymore. Eveyone plays the same amount of matches to get to a final and this time Richie breezed through his matches and wasted little energy so he should not have been as exhausted/flat as he looked out there.

I love watching him play (except on days like today) and can't wait until he gets it all together - And he WILL!

hmm I think Gasquet is a thousand times more talented than Ferrer, but his mentality is a milliion times weaker than Ferrer.

I have afternoon class too but it's tomorrow.

BTW, I have a question about TMC. I know the top 8 gets a spot but what about the two alternates? Do they get to play?

Well, the players under top 8 races, they also come to Shanghai as two alternatives in case players who are top 8 get injured or withdraw during the tournament, which means they're not supposed to play initially. Ancic and Berdych were alternatives last year. But actually Gonzalez and Haas was the no. 9 and 10 in the races but they decided not to come. So the next players came there as alternatives.
