And he saved the best for last. Smart, aggressive, consistent and confident tennis to win a title. Some good stuff from Richie this week - keep it up and stay healthy.

Congrats!!

Great tournament and today he absolutely destroyed Simon. His forehand was a major weapon.
Congrats on the title!
Allez!

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia (Asian Season 2012) - Bangkok

For Richard's chances to qualify for the WTF, he did a great job by winning Bangkok whereas Monaco who started the same week as having the same amount of points as Richard, ended the week having the same amount of points because he also won a title this week in Kuala Lumpur. Both players have 2325 points but Richard is #11 and Monaco #12.

Gasquet will play Ebden in the 1st round in Beijing. Should be a Wednesday start for Richard.
Monaco is playing in Tokyo where he faces Dimitrov who gave Gasquet a tough match and Tipsarevic who is at #10 plays Simon in Tokyo.

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia (Asian Season 2012) - Beijing

Richard back playing tomorrow in Beijing where he faces Qualifier, Ebden.

I'm sure he would have asked for a Wednesday start so I'm guessing the organisers didn't agree.

He's on 4th on court 1.

Gasquet def. Ebden 6/2 6/4

Solid match from Gasquet, always in control until he was 6/2 *4/3 up in the 2nd where he got broken but broken again in the next game after Ebden was 30-0 up on his service, he had to break on his 4th BP.

Through to the 2nd round where he will face Ze Zhang on Thursday. Rest day for Richard tomorrow, today's victory took 81 minutes!

Very good that he won in 2 sets. I did not see the match, but the result is optimistic

Re: 3 Weeks In Asia (Asian Season 2012) - Beijing

Zhang def. Gasquet 6/4 3/6 6/4

Richard!

Zhang was good in the 1st set, hitting some great shots, esp from the BH. Gasquet upped his level in the 2nd playing more offensive whereas Zhang's dipped. Gasquet started the 3rd well, by taking a 2-0 lead but got broken in the 4th game where he had a 40-15 game. Richard also lost a 40-0 lead on serve when serving to stay in it where Zhang hit 3 great winners in the last game.

Zhang played well but Richard should of won this match, he had his chances in the 3rd and getting broken when he had game points. Credit to Zhang, playing in front of his home crowd, he really did lift his game.

Few days to rest for Richard and then it's Shanghai! ) The draw takes place on Saturday!

Don't worry, he's going to do something big in Shanghai!

I felt if he was still playing come the weekend, makes the SF, his chances doing well in Shanghai would of decreased a bit, considering he won in Bangkok the week before and he would have had to play on Monday but most likely Tuesday.

But yeah, he should of won this match. Mayer would of been next, defiantly winnable. Winning this match would of put him ahead of Monaco in the rankings. Chance missed for Richard!
