Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open.

Richard is just not willing to work hard enough every single point to stay with Ferrer.
He was down two breaks, comes back and then like a good gentleman turns off his intensity and easily loses next two games and a set. Ferrer is putting up pressure on every single point, Richard can only do it in patches, but doesn't have nearly the same mental and physical intensity.

Ferrer is also playing far below his ability. That's why this is more frustrating than normal.

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open.

Richard is not serving well to get some cheap points, and he is not playing freely. His attitude is good, though, but he is not enough on fire to take the game to Ferrer. Anyway, I've got to go to work. Maybe me not watching helps.

It's funny comparing how energetic and intense Ferrer is compared to Richard, his body language says it all.

I have to say lately, Richard has been between mediocre and terrible at the net. His instincts are not there, his approaches are worse than Roddick's and he is bricking easy volleys on pretty much regular occasion. Just few years ago, that was his strength, now, imo it is pretty big weakness.

And that is why Ferrer is #5 and Richard is hanging on to top 20. Lack of focus/intensity has been and will always be Richard's biggest achilles heel. But that is the story of RIchard's life.

EWWW more errors from Richard and he's broken again.

Well at least I'll get to sleep before 3 am.

Ferrer is so much better returner than what Richard usually faces.

He is also lazy on the court. He got upset in first set that Ferrer was not missing much. He took the role of Tipsarevic from his last match.

Now, he just gave up. Pathetic.

I don't see lazy at all (at least not in this match)- lost focus, yes; lost intensity, yes; some dumb shots and an opponent who is relentless with 10 winners and 1 UE in this set.

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open.

He's just a mess mentally. First set, 4-5* 0-40*, gets back to deuce but then feeds Ferrer two tentative FH returns. Second set, 0-3*, gets back to 4-4 and then messes up again. Ferrer didn't even have to do anything special to get him to break down
