Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open

Lol he should always play in 36 degrees weather.

He just wants to get out of there and back to his hotel room, he doesn't even care any more he's just ripping a winner on every other shot

I thought he played more aggressive than usual. More attacking with forehand, more slice returns of serve instead of going backwards. Given its a first match and really hot out there, i think the match was decent.

Youhzny/Golubev match been going for almost three hours now (in this heat) and they're still only early in the third set

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open

Richard's serve made all the difference half through the match. Even if he lost the second set, I was always confident until that medical time-out, But strangely enough, he played his best tennis thereafter. Hot and very windy weather. Good to be through rather quickly.

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open

So Richard will play Andrey Golubev in the second round, they've played once in 2010 on clay, Richard won 6-1 6-1.

Golubev is coming off a 5 set match that lasted almost 5 hours....

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open

I thought this was a good opening win. Liked the new shirt . I was concerned about the MTO but he seemed to move well afterwards, so hopefully it was not something serious.
I was particularly pleased to see him move forward on the second serve return instead of retreating into the linespeople .
All in all , some positives to take from this - good luck in the next round .

Sometimes i dread coming here. I just know there will be injury talk or withdrw talk

So is the thigh an issue? he hasnt withdrawn- has he? I saw the Seppi match and he looked fine after the time out. well I thought he looked fine before the time out too.

Re: Richard In The Australian Summer 2012- Australian Open.

He won after Golubev retired. Not much to go off of here, Golubev was bad.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.
