Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011

Verdasco 6-2 6-1 Gasquet

I don't think Richard really wanted to be on court, I'm more concern on how his shoulder is, will that affect him playing Metz?

Rest up Richard and try to make it for Metz! Allez!

Of course not, but with all his "buddies" and the crowd left, the so-called French supporters in dead silence, someone had to do the job.

I also hope that the ellbow is nothing serious, and that he puts this weekend behind as soon as possible, there is still something to do this year, a lot of points to gain in the remaining tournaments and even more important a good prep season in December.

Yeah totally, he just needs to put this weekend behind, if he does return in Metz that would be nice with the support of his home crowd behind him.

I hope he doesn't rush his decision about Metz because he doesn't need to play his R2 match until Thursday, so I think he should give 2 days to see how it is.

Guy Forget said that Gasquet would have been lined up for the decisive fifth + should have taken a strong dose of anti-inflammatories for his elbow
So he was suffering before the match, why did you play Richard! Llodra should of played instead!

What the hell? Don't these guys talk to each other? And are there no emtional relations? A coach should feel it when his guy is suffering without being told.

Forget really seems to have totally lost it.

Richard has a voice. if he knew he was injured he should have said sorry I can't play especially when he knew it would be a dead rubber.

With his history in DC, I doubt anyone would have believed him.

There was mentioning of Richard's ellbow already after the US OPen, Forget then said it's nothing serious, seems as if he did not know the full story and this is not a good sign.

Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011

Forget never seems in touch with the players but at the same time Richard should be talking about this stuff if it's in the interests of the team. Imagine if he had had to play a live rubber.

We know what happened the last time Richard said it would be better for the team if someone else played against Roddick ... Sounded as if they were ready to just drug him up for a live 5th. As I said before Richard and Davis Cup don't mix well.

The elbow was mentioned early in the week. If he has to pull out of Metz because of this impossible Davis Cup

I didn't even think they were playing a 5th, so lucky I didn't see this one. Isn't there new DC rule that if there is one live match on Sunday, no dead 5th? Maybe the rule hasn't gone into effect yet or maybe i'm dreaming.

Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011

TBH I won't be surprised if Gasquet does play Metz with Anti-Inflammatories, he did it last year in Washington but I don't know if he played with Anti-Inflammatories there after getting injured in the Gstaad final. Only a day between his Gstaad final and his R1 match in Washington last year, this time he has atleast 3 1/2 half days on his side.
You have to consider this year what he has done after getting injured.... In Zagreb injured his shoulder didn't play Rotterdam the following week. Had a slight problem after his Dubai defeat, skipped the DC tie and in his R4 match vs Djokovic at RG he had a niggle which forced him to miss Queens.

Richie has no voice with Forget, but I hope Grosjean and Piatti or even his father will have one. It's so scandalous he has been forced to play injuried.

He's a 25 year old man not a child.

Re: Richard's Time In The Heat- Summer Season 2011

apparently he's trying out how he does with his elbow injury....??

http://www.sport365.fr/tennis/metz-l...u-745177.shtml

"Au lendemain de la défaite de la France en demi-finale de Coupe Davis, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Richard Gasquet et Michaël Llodra reviennent déjà sur les courts. Ils font partis des huit Français engagés sur les courts messins dès lundi. Tête de série n°1 Tsonga est directement qualifié pour le deuxième tour. Tenant du titre, Gilles Simon a fait l'impasse."

...i hope he is not pushing himself with an injury, i understand that he played quite poorly during the past weekend, but at the same time, it's not a time to be a fighter cos the body doesn't always work that way.
