It'd be awesome if he asked for a WC for Houston (since I'll be there!) but I know he's back in Europe already.

Re: The Clay Court Season- Road To Roland Garros! Casablanca (05-04-2010)

I also want Casablanca to start!
I'm convinced that Richard can play well and do a good tournament in clay. Most of the players will play for the first time of the year on clay, Richard already played 2 tournaments and he trained a lot. Miami and its atmosphere is behind him now; he said himself "Maybe I had to come here again in order to forget". He is determined, motivated. I know (and he knows as well) that just a match can bring him the confidence he needs. Physically, I don't know how he's but I think it's OK. He isn't injured, he plays well. He just needs confidence! I'm sure we can be optimistic. He hasn't won 2 matches in a row since January but now, it's the clay season. Maybe a new start?
If he win some matches in Casablanca, he can arrive in Monte-Carlo (I hope for the wild-card) in good position and why not, win a match against a top player? Or if it isn't in Monte-Carlo, it'll be in Barcelone

I'm optimistic and I'll be always optimistic with Richard!
Allez!!

Re: The Clay Court Season- Road To Roland Garros! Casablanca (05-04-2010)

I can't wait for clay season, either. I'm bored with Miami and our tv coverage stinks. I was at least looking forward to seeing Rafa and Nalbandian play on Sunday, but it was pre-empted by Women's softball that was postponed due to rain, so they showed something else. I didn't stick around long enough to see what.
Lately I have been reading some of the posts on RG.net. I don't speak French, but sometimes can read it well enough to get the gist of what they are saying; other times I use the translator. Anyway, I was reading about Monte Carlo and how everyone was hoping Richard would get a wildcard, or 'WC', which when translated comes up 'toilet'. The translations were something like 'I hope Richard gets a toilet for MC, but if Roger or Andy Murray ask for a toilet, they'll give them one instead of Richard.' I found it very amusing. I'm bored!!
Here's hoping MC gives Richard a wildcard and a toilet, too.
Have a good day everyone!!!

That's why one has to learn languages.

Really- don't know if it's the fact that Richie hasn't been in IW or Miami but I'm very bored and have really not been psyched for these two tournaments at ALL. Except for the Nalbandian/ Rafa match (my #2 and #3 favs) but my regional Fox SPorts channel elected to show poker (how is THAT a sport?) instead of the Miami tennis that was supposed to be covered by FoxSports BUT I did see it on tennistv.com. I started to wonder why I paid for that when many matches are on other free streams but now I know -- and the quality of the picture is much better and no stupid pop up ads. BTW - The first set was really good but then Dave pooped out and Rafa kicked it up in typical Rafa style.

I got the toilet translation too and wondered HOw in the world did WC translate to toilet! but then I remembered from LONG ago when I was in France that "WC" loosely translates into something like wash closet (ie. bathroom) or something like that (i think????)

Back on topic - I'm REALLY excited for clay and HOPE RIchie gets a WC for Monte Carlo and Barcelona. And hope to SEE him play some great clay court tennis in Casablanca

Actually WC means water closet (isn't that how it can be called in english too ?) In French you can either say I go to the WC or I go to the toilets, we never use the equivalent of "bathroom" which is only the place where you take baths. At the beginning of following tennis in English, I was all about players always asking for toilets in tournaments It's still kind of funny to talk about WC in the main draw. Wild card translates to "invitation" in French, btw.

No need for a WC in Barcelona, as he is on the regular entry list.

Nothing new, apart from the fact that Richard and Paolo practised in Roland Garros yesterday.

OOPS, I meant WC for Rome - I'm assuming the Rome entry list will be up before he gets enough points by winning Casablanca and Monte Carlo

Richard and Paolo - hope their slumps don't rub off on each other (just need to add Simon to the mix)

i use google translate if I'm in a rush (it takes me quite a while to decipher a french article myself) and sometimes I get hilarious mis-translations.

I am nit-picking today. The Rome list is already out, Richard logically not on, qualis' list still to come. If Richard wins those two (!) tournaments, we won't have to worry about WCs for the rest of the year.

Poor Gilles is worst off of these three, as his injury still (or again?) causes him troubles. PHM is a hard working and serious guy in practise, Richard can only benefit from that.

Nice to see Richie and Paulo getting some good practice at Roland Garros. One would think as much time as they have spent there, they would feel at home. I wish.
Puschkin, this is a belated THANK YOU! for all the translations you have provided. When I started reading the posts and articles over at RG.net a few years ago my old computer didn't have the translator. So I had to rely on you exclusively for the translations. I really appreciate it!
