This is THE worst group. Unfortunately evidence is hardening. People posted already links to the official Shanghai website, however, it is all in Chinese, so there is still hope.
Fed would have gotten a good group any way. He can't draw Nadal, so the only ones left who have beaten him are Roddick, Djokovic and Gasquet who have all beaten him just once. He drew 1 out of 3.

oh man just the draws.... could he have gotten a worst one?! haha... well i have hopes against nadal, since it will b the first one... please richard play without pressure, everyone expects u to not win a thing(sorry but its true), so prove them wrong!
Re: ☆★☆ We deserve to have our own TMC thread for Richard! Let's support in HERE! ★☆★
the draw...ouch! however he is the lowest ranked so in theory he shouldn't win any matches and he has no pressure! Hopefully he will not feel too much pressure and will be able to play freely and come away with a win or two and exceed all expectations. He made it this far when it seemed impossible so I don't think we can discount him just yet!
Re: ??? We deserve to have our own TMC thread for Richard! Let's support in HERE! ???
That's right !!
And in the same time, we could be surprised to see good results just because, he's gifted in many things.
I was the first to say Richard is really great, at the beginning, and then I was the first to say, he'll never do anything big, and now I just love what I see, he's very talented, and he needs time and occasions, but I'm sure he'll make the show...
Perhaps that won't be regular, but he is one of the best.
Someone gave hypothetic scores, I don't agree...
Nadal, 6/4 6/4
Djokovic, 7/5 6/3
Ferrer, 6/2, 6/7, 6/7
If he engages well, he can win against Ferrer. Ferrer is not always tough enough to win a big match. It's a possible match.

Okay here's my thoughtful standpoint.
When I saw his draw, it couldn't be worse or somewhat he wouldn't be going to win a SINGLE match or so.. because his record has been horrible against players who are in the same group. Then thought again, however, his H2H against top players has been a kind of disasterous as well, so basically whatever he'd got the draw, he would've been the least favourite.
At least apparently he got a luck enough to make Shanghai.. Maybe he's thinking that he's just there for enjoying his first TMC or something like that. But if he gets his head together, he should get a big ambition for this and he should be aware that this might be the best chance to make things turn around since he's going to play only top players. He showed he could hold his nerves even though he played nothing special (against Murray).
If he just lets other players win and doesn't fight at all, we won't be able to expect that the next season would be better. I think this is the big crucial moment for him and playing against Nadal would tell everything for us as fans and FOR HIMSELF.
That being said, even if he loses (very likely), he should show some fighting spirits and give them some trouble to bode his next season well. Of course if he steps on the court as a better player, he must win. And I seriously think if he wins against Nadal, it'll definitely the biggest thing not just for a huge win, but for his whole career to come.
Nonetheless his triple defeats are really likely, so if it's the case AND it looks like beatdowns, I probably won't expect too much from him with my whole heart.
