Re: December Showdown 2017

what does the 'Exclude ' list mean? Does this mean he is injured and can't play? I am surprised to see Dayne Kelly there on the list. They normally ban him from competing. Sad to see Ben Mitchell and Alex Bolt not there. So much talent lost there to Australian tennis.

Re: December Showdown 2017

Scott Jones won the 18s final 6-2 4-6 6-4 over Kody Pearson. I really don't know anything about Jones, and his pro results so far are nothing to write home about. Did they give the 18s champion a QWC into the AO last year?

It wasn't a very good tournament for top seed Popyrin, he only won one round robin match and didn't make the quarters. It was nice to see Chase Ferguson do well though, a few years back when he was 12 he played in the Longines rising stars tournament at Roland Garros

Re: December Showdown 2017

A few surprises on Day 1:

Whittington taken to 5 sets by Purcell from 2 sets up
Van Peperzeel taking out Saville via retirement
Jasika coming from 2 sets down to beat Matosevic
O'Connell handling De Minaur with relative ease
Groth and Kelly currently at 8-8 in the fifth, with Groth having saved one match point

Re: December Showdown 2017

I always love the December showdown! It was a shame to see De Minuar handled so easily, but I still believe that a GS wildcard isn't necessarily warranted at this point in his developement.

I've been away for a while, but now that VCE is officially over, I look forward to getting back on the forum! Lots of great opportunities for the Aussies in the months ahead that will be fantastic to follow.

Just chilling until the Kokk rejoins the tour.
