It was all service breaks at the start but then they settled. A first head to head win over Saville.
Then he won the final against Jenkins 6-1 6(3)-7 7-6(4).
Actually it looked like he would win 6- 6-2. Jenkins serving at 2-4 in the second and under pressure but then the chance for the second break slipped and Jenkins rallied and eventually broke back in the second, won the tie break and made a real match of it.
Another week, another final against Jenkins from the USA. This time Jenkins had his revenge, with Jenkins winning 6-1 7-5. Still, finalist is not too bad, and will move him a little further. 4th seed for Cairns which runs over the next 7 days.
Just completed his weekly match up against Jenkins from the USA, but unlike the last two this time it was not the final but a R16 match.
On the form of both players this should have been worthy of a final and this time Polmans again triumphed 3-6 6-3 6-3, and was particularly strong in the last.
Into the final in the doubles again also teamed with Saville.
Yes, Marc's decision to ditch the Chinese Challengers and come back for those two Futures tournaments has paid rich dividends for him, as well as helpfully snapping his early season form slump.
The good news for him is that his Futures run in Africa didn't start until after Roland Garros, so he's not defending anything during this upcoming clay period and could well make some further inroads before the points defending begins in earnest.
