Certainly closer than Pete would like but at least he got the win, thats the main thing at this stage.

Quote:
Luczak now meets Victorian James Lemke who beat Queenslander Jared Easton 6-4 7-6 (6-3) 6-2 in their clash.

The 31-year-old plans to have one final tilt at the main tour in 2011 and if he does not get the results he wants, he will retire.

Luczak said his ranking fell as he played all ATP Tour events this year, although he had his best year financially.

But he said if he is still struggling at the elite level at the end of next season he plans to quit.

"I think it's just a little bit tougher when you're playing at ATP level - all year my ranking was good enough to get into the tournaments and I feel like I hardly won a match," Luczak said.

"I'm going to have to drop back to the challenger level a the start of next year and hopefully I can get a few wins under my belt and get some confidence and get back in the top 100.

"I'll definitely play next year and then I'll see how I go.

"If I'm close to sneaking into the (2012 London) Olympics I could keep going but otherwise I could be hanging them (his racquets) up.

"If I'm ranked around 200 and my motivation's not quite there then I won't be playing any more."
Hopefully he can have a good year in 2011 then.

He will need to step it up on Saturday against Ebden, he can't be too passive but Ebden won't make too many mistakes.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete got two good rounds under his belt with a good draw, but now the competition really starts for him. He's going to have to take it to Ebden and be the offensive player, while staying consistent. Hopefully he has his serve in operating order. It's going to be tough, but supposedly Ebden isn't 100%, so he should have chances.

GL, Pete! Winning this event would definitely be the kick start he needs in his career, coming on potentially his last season. Hopefully he does wins this and has a great Australian summer season.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

I just hope he plays lots of challengers and has a season like 2009. No use in playing 250s when he gets 1st or 2nd round exits every time...

Luczak saves four match points and beats Ebden 7-6 (5) in the third! What drama, what a battler!

I'd rather see him give 250s a go than challengers. Might as well play against the best in the world if you can, you'll get a much better idea of what you're capable of, and there's always a chance of beating a big name. He did register a win over Berdych last year. We all know that he can win challengers, but I'd like to see him claim a few scalps on the tour - particularly on clay.

That crosscourt forehand on his 4th matchpoint down was awesome.

Go the warrior win the playoff.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
