Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Close loss for Looch - 7-6 in the 2nd and 7-6 in the 3rd against Stakhovsky, after taking the 1st 6-2. Hopefully can take some good form into the US Open and turn these close losses into wins.

Peter plays Sergiy again in the first round of the Open. He almost had the match this week in New Haven, hopefully he took positives out of the loss and can come away victorious next week.

Not a bad draw, hopefully he can take the positives out of this week and turn it into a win in NY. Good luck Looch.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Tough loss for Luczak in the DC, especially after leading in the 1st set TB and had to withdraw from Bangkok Challenger.

He will be off to Comm Games, then will have to contest the wildcard playoff.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete's Quarter for the Commonwealth Games.

MILTON Joshua Craig (8) WAL vs MWANGI Francis Thuku KEN
HUTCHINS Ross Dan ENG vs KHAN Aqeel PAK
BOPANNA Rohan Machanda IND vs BUYINZA Robert UGA
KING Darian Dimitri BAR vs LUCZAK Peter Kris (2) AUS

Bopanna could present a few problems on home soil but Pete should be confident of accounting for the rest.

Pete's also teaming up with Hanley in the Doubles event and is not playing in the mixed doubles.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete won his first round in singles yesterday with a 63 63 victory over Darian King. His opponent played some decent tennis at times but was too inconsistent to give Pete any huge issues. Next up is Rohan Bopanna.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete is usually good in the heat, just the question of whether his backhand will hold up when Bopanna will be attacking it.

Pete should be able to advance against the hometown man as long as he is consistent.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete defeated Bopanna 62 76. Crowd were a bit of a nuisance but Pete handled it well. Next up in the Quarters will be Joshua Milton. Pete and Hanley are also in the Quarters of the Doubles where again Pete is scheduled to play Milton and his partner Chris Lewis.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Good that Pete was able to get through this and the crowd couldn't get Bopanna over the line.

It would mean so much to Luczak if he could win a medal here, even if the competition isn't exactly the hardest.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
