Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Looks like he has finally found some form again in this challenger on green clay, he does need the points though because a lot of results still be coming off from last year over the next few weeks.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete beat DY 6-2 6-2

He plays another youngster the Japanese Nishikori in the semis, hope he can make the final and if he does, it will either be Troicki or Berlocq.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Great results this week for Peter. I think he will beat the Japanese boy and progress to play Barlocq.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Seems Nishikori is catching the shape again, but Pete had the good scorelines this week. Anyway, awful to judge without watching the matches.

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Shame he didn't go for Munich, over there half the field pulled out and several of the remaining players are also in doubtful shape.

His next two ATP tournaments will be Casablanca and Roland Garros, with probably some challengers before that, after that it doesn't look likely that he will be able to play ATP tournaments because so many ranking points will come off.

Nishikori def. Luczak Still a pretty good week all in all. I hope he can make the second round in Barcelona, he needs to get himself firmly back in the top 100.

A pretty good week I reckon. The important thing is not to panic re the ranking points. I really hope that he can beat Starace!

Perhaps he thought he was going to get a more friendly draw than he did plus he is playing a challenger in Spain the week after. Next week he will move to an estimated 87 in the world, and should make the cut for Sopot (which is the only clay tournament in the grass season), he will play in Barcelona this week where he has 24 points to defend, next week he will play in Telde, Spain challenger where he is the defending champion with 50 points to defend (the challenger is a very weak feild). Then its off to an 85k challenger in Marrakech, Morocco where he will likely be seeded in the top 4 and the only big threat that has entered is Gael Monfils and he has no points to defend that week so he could gain a lot that week. Then back to ATP Casablanca where he has no points to defend and then to Roland Garros where he has no points to defend. Its likely in the second week of Roland Garros he will enter a challenger because he has 60 points to defend, then he will probably play Sopot the week after where he has 55 points to defend. I really doubt he will play Wimbledon and probably play a few Euro clay challengers. So when you look at his situation like this Im not as worried as I was a month ago espically now hes in form and is playing on clay every tournament. Big test for him though, but I think hes fit enough to do enough to remain in the top 100 after all this.

I do give him a chance, Starace hasn't been great and Peter seems to be back to good form. Ranking points indeed are not the main thing, he will have opportunities and maybe even Bastad will give a WC (I presume he still lives in Sweden a lot of the time).

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

He is going alright, as long as he finishes the year inside the top 100, then that's fine. He is in directly at RG and if he can make the US Open directly, that would be great as well.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: The "Peter Luczak" Cheering Thread!

Pete lost to Starace 7-6 6-1, no surprise really, probably got hit by the jetlag and the legs would have been very heavy.

He is now off to Telde in the Canary Islands, where he won the challenger last year.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
