Good luck to Chris and Pete at the French. lets hope they DON'T play eachother!!
Tennis Australia listed AIS sponsored players on their website earlier this year. Casey wasn't mentioned as an AIS scholarship holder...Emily Hewson and Christina Wheeler are part time scholarship holders, and Jess Moore, Alenka Hubacek and Alison Bai are full time scholarship holders.

I am telling you Casey is Part of the AIS. trust me.

the below quote is from the AIS website http://www.ais.org.au/news/index.asp
"AIS athletes, Peter Luczak and Casey Dellacqua have been announced as the recipients of the French Open main draw wildcards under the reciprocal agreement between Tennis Australia and the French Tennis Federation.

These wildcards have been awarded in recognition of the excellent results that both players have recorded over the past few months. These include a singles title win for Peter at the Mas Palomas Challenger in Spain and a singles final for Casey at the US$50,000 event in Fukuoka, Japan. Casey also reached the doubles semifinal with fellow AIS athlete, Emily Hewson."

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

He plays Economidis in the first round, a challenger-level player who obviously hit some decent form in qualifying. His shape needs to have improved from a few weeks ago to have a chance to win. The slow and wet conditions may not help him either.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

Yeh hes screwed... No offence, its just that its soo wet and cold even if Gooch were in great shape he still won win with these conditions and it doesnt look like its gonna clear up and become hot and dry like last year

Gooch lost 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-1

Another poor loss

Good luck on the grass

Defeated Joshua Goodall in Surbiton challenger (grass) first round, 7-6 6-4.
Would have been really bad if he had lost this though.

Gooch plays Bastl 2nd round. He should beat him, so let's keep our fingers crossed that he does.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

Easy win in the 2nd round against Bastl. Looking more promising now for Chris, I think his RG loss to Economidis wasn't as bad as it looked (opponent playing well) and his form/fitness has improved just in time for the grass season. Remember he has direct entry into Queens as well next week which is a great help.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

Defeated Bloomfield in three sets, but now faces Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semis. This is a very difficult match, Tsonga is in great form and all set to make an impact on the grass courts. I expect Tsonga to win although that would not be a disgrace to Chris.
