Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

I'm so surprised he's not doing well, in Sydney he looked like he had added a yard of pace to his movement, I thought we were seeing a new player. I don't understand why his form didn't continue. It's weird because of his serve his performances seem to be the same against any level of player, like he'll lose a similar scoreline to a hack and then lose 7-6-7 to Roddick.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

Sad to say it, but he seems to have no fight. I've watched him play a lot at Queens and Wimby the last four years and he's just too tame. He walks out for every match with the body language of the underdog, even when he's favoured to win. He needs to impose himself more on opponents...bang a couple of forehands at their chest...stare them down...make more noise on court so they know he's there.

Guccione might be starting to improve. He defeated Woong Sun Jun 6-3,6-4 at Cincinatti after losing to the same guy in Indianapolis 6-4,7-6.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

About time he strung two wins together!

Good to see none of the four sets he played went to tiebreaks either.
Hopefully he can now score a win in the main draw and keep that top 100 ranking

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

i agree with Zac. It would be too much to have only one man in the top 100!

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

He can qualify for a MS but not for a 50K Really is a strange one.

He's got Levine in the first round. Hope he can do it.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

He couldn't have asked for a better draw. Even though the guy did well for a set against Nadal last week, Gooch should be thanking his lucky stars he didn't draw someone like Simon or Kiefer...or anyone else in the top 50 for that matter.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

Well for Chris he either wins this match and stays in the top 100 until at least October or he loses and drops out (which I have a feeling he will not getting back in). I feel this match is going to determine the whole rest of the season for Chris. Levine is on a high but Gooch hasnt dropped a set in qualifying. I also feel this match could potentially determine whether or not our Davis Cup team gets back into the world group or not. Regardless of what happens Gooch will play in the Olympics next week and play in the US Open two or three weeks later guarunteed.

Re: ---Chris Guccione Cheering Thread---

I think Chris will beat Levine and then progress to the second round to play Fernando Verdasco which would be an awesome match between 2 lefties!

And this is exactly what has happened. Chris beat Levine 6/3, 6/4 and that leftie batle is coming up.
