Good to see TA keep the faith, and John Fitzgerald follow through on his promise to blood some new players

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

You would think that Carsten would be in with a good shot at the second singles spot. Looking at the US Open form and recent satellites I would see a fight between Ball, Smeets and Klein for that spot.

Great doubles win overnight in 5 sets with Chris in the Davis Cup. Wonder if Fitzy could sub him for Luczak?

Yes great win in the doubles from Carsten and Gooch

And he did indeed play singles, beat Paul Capdeville 6-3 7-6

Overall very impressive weekend from Ball and expect big things from him for the rest of the season, the top 150 beckons by YE

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Good win for Carsten in Sacremento against Izak Van Der Merwe, a player he has never beaten before. I think he can take out Jesse Levine in the second round and then a big challenge against Ilia Bozoljac in the quarters....

Carsten has 36 points to defend for the rest of the year, I hope he can stay inside the top 200.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Carsten unfortunately lost to Russell 2 and 4 but still a good effort in this tournament.
Surely he can nab some Aussie wildcards early in the new season and get that ranking up.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Ashame he lost there, but hopefully he can keep up with the consistent results

It's also ashame that there are no 50k or 25k + H challengers here this year. Oh well, look forward to seeing how he goes at the AO Playoff, I imagine TA will want him to play, even though after his Davis Cup exploits, he is practically guaranteed a main draw wildcard IMO
