He will play young Brit Daniel Cox. He should win quite comfortably.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Nielsen up next who is coming off a decent run of tournaments in Bangkok which culminated in him making the MD of the ATP event in Bangkok last week and then lost to Bemelmans 62 63. The good Carsten needs to show up in this match and if it does he will most likely win but if it doesn't he won't win unlike today.

Possibly may have suffered an injury, as after his match him and Guccione withdrew from the doubles

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

I really don't want this to sound like a knee jerk reaction or anything but I really don't see Carsten progressing to the top 50 as was predicted of him a couple of years ago. To me, he just another version of Gooch, but not as clutch. His mental game is really poor and his movement and court craft is poor and I can't see it improving enough to make the top 50.

I would love to be proven wrong but I guess I don't see the talent that other people do.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

50k Hard Challenger Tiburon, USA.

[6] Carsten BALL (AUS) vs Daniel KING-TURNER (NZL)
[SE] Giovanni LAPENTTI (ECU) vs [WC] Raymond SARMIENTO (USA)
Kevin KIM (USA) vs Michael YANI (USA)
John MILLMAN (AUS) vs [3] Julian REISTER (GER)

Battle of the big servers in the first round. Carsten should win. King Turner is in poor form and hasn't won a set in his last five matches.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Carsten defeated last week's Quito Clay Challenger winner Giovanni Lapentti 36 63 63. Next up for Carsten will either be Reister or Kim.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Carsten will play Kim and is now the only seed remaining in his half of the draw. In saying that though two are former top 100 players and the other is Ryan Harrison.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)
