His dad Syd was a hot doubles player in partnership with Ross Case. I am showing my age here as many of you were only a blink of an eye back then! Your parents may remember him though.

Well with him getting to the final his current ranking of 232 is safe until early August and between now and then he is playing 7 consecutive Challenger tournaments in North America. So he will almost certainly play US Open Qualies and has a real chance at gaining lots of points over the next 2 months.

I think he will get the US Open wildcard.

Carsten won the final over de Heart in three sets. He lost the first set and came back to claim the tie breaker. He won all 4 tie breaks he played in this tournament.

How about an 8 player wild card play off......Ball, Feeney, Smeets, Coelho, Ebilthite, Groth, Lindahl and Sirianni. Perhaps Klein and Armstrong could be in the mix as well. Some of these should step up for sure!

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

I really hate playoffs, you give it to Sirriani all you'r doing is helping him fund his next career as a brick layer.

Fairness shouldn't come into the equation for wildcard selection, just give it to the young guy showing the most promise.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

I just checked the latest ATP Rankings and afetr reaching the semi finals of the 75K tournament in Aptos Carsten has cracked the top 200 in the world. He is currently sitting at 199 and this makes him the 7th highest Australian man. Great work and a fantastic year! Be great if he could reach the Top 150 by years end. I reckon is scheduling is also very sensible.

Good to see another Aussie in the top 200
Hopefully he can keep it up and really push towards the top 150 this season.

Yes. I agree ! Good win over a very tough opponent. This is a 100k event so very impressive work to get through to the last 16 there. it gets very tough from here on in.

Re: It's nice to have you Carsten.

Carsten tore stuff up at the high school next to mine in Newport, CA. YEEEEEEE. He and Sam Querrey were duking it out in the Juniors in Southern California, although I think Querrey was a year behind.
