Into another final with a straight sets victory over Bolt at the Australia F9.

I haven't seen him play but judging by recent results he looks like a prospect - can anyone who's seen him break down his game?

I played him a few times when he was much younger, like 12-13. He was very small but ran every single ball down and made about 2 errors a set. He was so consistent but hit with a decent pace for a little dude and could hit winners because he always waited for the right shot and set it up well.
I would guess that now he has all those abilities but X 1000, and he looks a lot stockier so i'm guessing he would have pretty good power now. Very intelligent player.

Re: Jordan Thompson - Flying up the rankings in 2013

Unfortunately Jordan does not get maximum return for his week's work as Jonesie displays good metal strength and his greater experience and recovers from a set and 2-4 down in the second set to beat Jordan 36, 7-5, 6-1.
A good week for young Jordan who continues his journey up the rankings.

Shame he couldn't win it. Really excited for this kids future.

I'm happy for him as well. Nice person but his game needs a lot of work and strengthening to get to the next level.
He never had the power to complete against Jones.
It was either Jones hitting the winner or making the error. Once Jones worked out the pace and power of Thompsons game it was no contest. Thompson needs to beef up his serve and forwar hand, which is too spinny, but his movement and intuition are good.
Too much tennis for his smaller frame has seen him pull out of this week's tournament.

MELBOURNE CHALLENGER

Rnd 1: Jordan, after a week's break from competition comes back well, makes use of a good draw and continues his march up the rankings with a solid 63 62 win over Aussie Dane Propoggia (ATP361).

Great win in the AO playoff today against Mitchell (who was my pick to win the whole thing). From what I saw this week I'm impressed - while he gets very vocal when he loses points he doesn't hugely lose focus.

Well done Jordan. Good luck for the AO.
2013 has been an awsome year for Jordan, and what a way for him to start 2014, in the Main Draw of the AO - and he earned it.

After a disappointing loss to Ito at Brisbane qualifying, beats fellow playoff winner Di Wu in straights in QR1 of Sydney. Faces Vesely next.
