Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Marinko and Brydan giving out bagels in their second round matches no seeded players left in Bordeaux so an even better chance for Marinko now!

Nope - Both Klein and Marinko bow out in the QF rounds. Off to RG for MMM now. Whereto Klein?

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

brydan will be playing some more challengers...

Groth won in 3 so into the final of his korean futures...doubles final later today also...really hope he can keep this form up....could do some damage if he goes to england for the grass season...

Groth wins. Really good win. I was impressed with Nielsen at the Holman cup this summer.

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Groth won the first set against former number 76 Przysiezny 6-3 and it's on serve in the second...

... but he goes down 3-6 7-5 6-3. oh well still a good effort making 2 finals in a row (and winning one!)

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Alex Bolt won through to the main draw, but the real bad result was Luke Saville loss to Thanasi Kokkinakis who is a very very great young player but Luke should have won, the score was 6-3 6-2!

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Alex played Brit Smethurst i think is his name, and Bolt won 4-6 6-1 6-2, Krygios also got a LL spot into the main draw and got drawn to the second seed, Nicolas won 6-0 6-4, i think we have a very bright future with some of our juniors on all surfaces!

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

those results in Slovenia are awesome! well, except for Saville, but at least he lost to another Australian. both the main draw wins were surprising, especially Kyrgios since he got beaten pretty easily in qualifying, and then comes out and smashes the second seed and world number 333!

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Well the really weird thing is Kokkiankis lost first round to another qualifier who Thanasi was actually ranked higher then, really bad loss it looks like it was by Saville!
