Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Andrew Whittington will be competing in two futures events in Greece on hard courts. He is going to be seeded in both events, he will be the 8th seed in the first tournament and the 7th seed in the second tournament. There are other futures events in Greece in the weeks after that so Andrew could be playing in those. I'll keep you guys updated

Good spotting on Ducky. He's 150 spots higher than the next seed too. Should go close. Whittington has won his way to the quarters as well. Will play Kimmer Coppejans are defeating Willis in three sets.

Being a low seed at Challengers and particularly Futures is a good place to be in my opinion. You have a protected place in the draw and are (generally) favoured to make the quarter-finals, but from there you can prove yourself and gain valuable experience against higher ranked or in form opponents.

Whittington lost to Coppejans 6-3 6-1 in the quarters. Still a great week for him.

Van Pepperzel lost in the semis in Isreal.

Nick is through to the final beating top seed and the world number 192. Good win for him. Hopfully he can take the tittle out.

Yes - and on the same theme - Aussie Simon Ede was missing from the ATP Australian ranking, so I checked his bio and he also now has a British flag next to his name.
I think that both players, not in line to get anything from TA, have adopted the GB flag to give them easier access to the European Community and travel and work permits. Smart move.

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Big win for Jordan Thompson over night, beating number 1 seed and local Arnau Bruges-Davi 6-2 6-2 on Clay! Unfortunately Brad Mousley and Jay Andrijic went down in the first round but another great result for Jordan!

Last played in a future tournament in Australia last year. Towards the end of last year too. Made the semi final as well.
