Re: J.P. Smith

Pretty good week last week for JP. He reached the SF of Istanbul Challenger, beating Munoz de la Nava, Kravchuk and Basic in the process. Went down to Illya Marchenko.

Re: J.P. Smith

Yeah - good week for JP, that should take him back below 250 in the singles.
Playing in Taiwan this week, if he can get there from Istanbul in time.

Re: J.P. Smith

Taiwan first round Smith wins 6/4 7/5 over Hiroki Kondo. Good win after travelling a long way.

Looks like J.P is very motivated after his big rankings drop a couple of months ago. With a decent week here he could be top 200. He'll be in AO qualies anyway so I'm sure he feels less pressure now which hopefully allows his for better results.

Also looks like he's just focussing on singles for a few tournaments. Good move mate!

Re: J.P. Smith

Good win by JP, as Jonesie knocked off the No.5 seed Rajeev Ram in the first round.
JP served amazingly at over 75%. The weather was diabolically hot too - Michael Russell and one other player retiring from heatstroke in their matches.
JP faces up against 4th seed American Jack Sock (ATP88) next - let's knock him off JP...

Re: J.P. Smith

A close match for JP - looks like he had had set point in the tie-break. Just could not break the jock Sock, and lost his serve in the second game of the second set when 40-15 up. A tough one... but another decent week for JP which will see him near his ranking best of 210, or even better than.

Re: J.P. Smith

A disappointing, surprising loss for JP in Sacramento, against USA wild card Jamere Jenkins (ATP542), going down 36 16. Hope all is well with Smith, perhaps courts to quick for Jipper.

He went deep in the doubles last week so perhaps he had limited preparation? Thats one he should have won.

Re: J.P. Smith

JP Smith takes the long road but gets it done with a good three set win over USA's Steve Johnson (ATP150) 76(6), 26, 64.
Almost through away that first set when a mini-break up and serving for the set, then had to battle to win the tb 8-6.
Go Jipper...

Re: J.P. Smith

JP gets the better of Rajeev Ram 76 64 and advances to the quarter-final round.
Plays No.1 seed Denis Kudla (ATP97) next. Has his work cut-out but could rattle a volatile Kudla.

CHARLOTTESVILLE CHALLENGER

1st Round: JP Smith was surprisingly bundled out in straight sets 63 62 by the No. 3 seed veteran Michael Russell (ATP96). Expected JP to push Russell but not to be...
