Re: Matthew Barton Thread

Barton will come back to Sydney for training block to prepare him for European clay and grass season.

Last year losing first round futures and this year started the season well. The bigger tests are coming.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

He'll either be just on 200 or 201, 202 or 203. Either way he's had a massive 2 months.

Lost to Dudi Sela in straight sets. Will remain just outside top 200 again.

Re: Matthew Barton Thread

He had break points to win that second set........I came back to the live scores and he had lost the last 4 games to go down in straight sets. Not a bad loss though as Sela is quality but I was surprised how quickly it must have fallen away!

Re: Matthew Barton Thread

This is very exciting. I love Matthew's confident scheduling. Even when had a 'Futures ranking', he still played a lot of Challenger qualifying. I think this aggressive scheduling will pay dividends.

Re: Matthew Barton Thread

Big game, should play big matches.
It pays to see where your game is, how you compare and what you should be working on. And if you are good enough, time to soar.
Go Matt Barton.

Re: Matthew Barton Thread

Only problem is he plays Ernests Gulbis if he wins for a main spot in the draw..... Gulbis is probably the in-form players on the tour outside the top 20 at the moment.

Re: Matthew Barton Thread

I think the occasion got to Matt. Lost 6-4 6-2 to Matwe Middlekoop. Not confident on his serve and just couldn't find a rhythm. Still it will be great experience and he now heads to Munich or Estoril next week.
