Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

US Open draw:

[24] Paire vs Bogomolov
[WC] Smyczek vs [WC] Duckworth
Zopp vs M.Granollers
Ram vs [16] Fognini

A good draw in my opinion.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckies luck runneth still.
Another great draw, which will certainly help his progress up the rankings, but still was to get the win.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

A good draw, but he could not get the win.
Duckie loses in 4 sets to Smyczek 63 26 46 16.
A pity, after he won the first set, was looking good, but faded away.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Still hasn't faced a top 100 player in R1 of a Slam.

AO 2012 - Zopp ranked 148
AO 2013 - Mitchell ranked 334
RG 2013 - Kavcic ranked 104
W 2013 - Kudla ranked 105
US 2013 - Smyczek ranked 109

Yep - has been very lucky in his draws to date.
Still - you can only beat those who are drawn against you. All his good luck.

Forehand collapsed, was mishitting everywhere, a lot of errors for him. Bad result and poor performance sadly.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckworth has decided to play qualifiers for the Asian swing instead of playing the American Challengers like a lot of the other Aussies. After losing to Lukas Lacko in QR1 of Tokyo, he has defeated world no. 64 Roberto Bautista Agut in QR1 of the Shanghai Masters - comfortably the best win rankings-wise of his career. He faces Paolo Lorenzi (world no. 85) in the Shanghai FQR.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Disappointing loss to Lorenzi in the Shanghai FQR. I guess he'll play the Aussie Challengers now?

I had high hopes for this match.

Yeah, off to the Australian Challengers now. They should provide some easier points and all but ensure his wild card into the Australian Open and probably Brisbane as well. He may even earn direct acceptance into the Australian Open but he'll need to play exceeding well in the Challengers for that to happen.

MELBOURNE CHALLENGER

This Aussies is fairing well in Melbourne, but at the expense of another Aussie,
Ducky gets up against Alex Bolt (ATP257), as expected, but not after a fight by Bolt, winning 76(2) 63.
