Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckie advances in Lexington, through to QF round, with a workmanlike win over Canadian peter Polansky 63 76 (4).
Plays No.1 seed Illya Marchenko (ATP114) in QF.
Go James

Good win. Marchenko will be tough. Really hope James can go deep here though.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

James is through to the semis beating Marchenko in 3. And then gets given a wildcard into Washington where he will play a qualifier.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckie shows his class in the first round in Washington and brushes off Yuichi Sugita (ATP155) with consumate ease 62 62.

How'd Ducks score the WC? Through Darren Cahil and the Adidas team? Anyone know?

Plays big serving Kev Anderson (ATP21) seeded 7 in next round. Let's hope big Kev in tired/jaded from his marathon tb 3-setter against Isner in last week's final.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckworth to get the US Open MD Wild Card?
Almost a certainty imo.

Official - Duckworth awarded the Wild Card.
Ebden shafted again.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

I don't think Ebden was shafted at all. Duckworth is higher in the year-to-date rankings and is in his best hard court form. Even if they were both the same age I would still go with Duckworth. He is at a career high too.

James is definitely Duckworthy of the wild card.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Ebden shafted? Lol, Duckworth has by far had the better results and has the better game.

Much rather give these wildcards to people who show improvement like Duckowrth has this year (he qualified for RG and Wimby, How often has this happened lately?) instead of players who haven't shown improvement/or signs of regression like Ebden.

Ebden shafted wow just wow. It was never in doubt that it was Duckworths wildcard. After he qualified for RG And Wimbledon.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Hey can't say I disagree.
Only said "shafted" looking at it from Ebden's point of view.
Duckworth was my pick all along, for all the reasons stated by you guys above, and he has the best potential to increase his ranking of perhaps all the Aussie with only 15 points left to defend this year. He should have a very good year end ranking, hopefully approaching the big 100.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckie does it tough at the Winston-Salem qualifying, getting through a tough three sets against Kiwi Michael Venus 76(6) 67(3) 75 but unable to back up against Denmark's Freddie Nielsen , going down 57 26.
I have no idea how they expect these guys to play two matches in a day, just like the ATP in Sydney. Why not let them play qualies Sat, Sun, Mon like most tournaments . Ridiculous demands on the body. The guy who has an easy first match is more than likely going to win the second match on the same day.
