Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Ducky lost to Groth today in the QF's in Sydney 6-7 6-7, he has a decent first round in Kyoto. He will play Kiwi Jose Statham who is currently sitting at 279 in the world. I don't think the two have ever met but I'm not sure about that.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

I saw 7 points of Duckworth's quarter-final today before it got rained delayed to a point where I had to leave for Mardi Gras duties.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Duckworth gets up, after a bit of a struggle, against Rubin Statham in three set 64 46 63 in the Kyoto Challenger.
Plays No. 2 seed Marco Chiudinelli next.
Duckie could be a chance here considering Chiudenelli needed 3 sets to see off Saville in the 1st round.
Go the Duck

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Ducky lost 6-7(5) 7-6(7) 2-6. I know for sure he saved at least 1 match point in that second set but not sure about anymore but I reckon there would have been. Bad luck mate, Ben Mitchell and Ducky really haven't started the season that great unfortunately.

Hopefully they both can start to pull some wins together.

Damn if he could have won this match it could have been a turning point for him.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Great fight by Duckie. He saved three match points in the second set - one on his serve at 4-5 down, then two in the breaker, at 5-6, with Chiudinelli serving (actually didn't really save it as Chiudinelli serve a DF), then on his serve at 6-7 down. Chiudinelli must have been spewing to have to play a 3rd set but did well to bring it home after that scenario, double fault on match point.

James and Greg Jones gave their doubles match to their opponents by a walkover. I hope everything is ok there.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

I heard that Jonesie is ill - has a high temperature, massive headache, aching neck, sore throat, etc. Most probably won't play his second round. He started being ill when playing against Mitchell - amazing that he finished the match and won.

You were right RustyOz. Greg did not front for his round two match. It must be awful to be sick when you are on the road like this.miles away from loved ones. Hope he gets better soon.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Gee, I'm impressed. It's a shame his Challenger results haven't been nearly as good as his Futures results this year.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

While Kubler is fantastic on clay, this is a tournament Duckworth should have won. Credit that he did and hopefully he takes the form with him into Itajai and Santos - where he's competing - in the next two weeks.
