Re: Matthew Ebden

A comprehensive loss - expected Matt to be able to match Somdev, but then it is on the dreaded red stuff.

Re: Matthew Ebden

He was up I think 3/1 in that second set and then managed to lose 5 games on the trot. He is hopeless on clay. As simple as that really.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt should use this season to rest and play a busier schedule at other times of the year on grass and hard.

Re: Matthew Ebden

He would've been better off taking advantage of his (slightly) sub 50 ranking and play even more hard court Challengers over the (northern hemisphere) Spring clay season, but hey, he gave it a shot. Beating Montanes would be a miracle given he's the defending champion.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Ebdenesque-like, Matt has drawn 28 year-old Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas, who must be in on a PR, ranked at 136, with a high rank of45 in Oct 2009. It could be Pablo's lucky day though, given Matt's current clay court form.
In a two set match I would give Matt a chance, but over three sets.
Hope he can prove that wrong. Go Matt
