Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt going well, into semis - has had a decent draw so far. Up against Lu next, should be able to match him but will be difficult to beat in "home" territory.
Com'n Matt

Re: Matthew Ebden

In a match-up of the big pushers, Matt ends up the winner, beating the aptly named American Tennys Sandgren 76(5) 63, to advance to the QF round in Napa.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Anyone know if there are enough points on offer and enough tournaments for him to earn direct entry into the Australian Open?

Re: Matthew Ebden

Good win by Ebden, in Napa, over No. 1 seed Badley Klahn (ATP 99) 63 75, advances to SF round, to play No. 4 seed Alex Kuznetsov (ATP 130).
Matt can win this one too.

Matt still has 105 points to defend this year: 20,20,20,45
Is ranked ATP122 with 465 points. Needs approximately 530pts to be around ATP104-106 to get into Oz Open Main Draw, so needs to earn 170pts before mid December.

At +-27 pts now in Napa, so needs 143 pts.
If goes to final in Napa. +- 48pts, so needs 122pts.
If wins Napa, +-80pts, so need 90 pts.

Still plenty of Challengers for Matt to access those points, if he chooses to continue to play MD Chanllengers and not ATP qualies. Will need to get to semis in 4 more tournaments. Do-able, but a Challenge.

Matt can win this one too.
He beat Kudla, not Klahn, which is more impressive really. Looks like he's found some form over the last couple of weeks after a lean run mid-year - hopefully he can take the title here.

Into the final with a 6-2 6-0 win. Matty in great form. Plays Donald Young.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt was up a set and a break but lost to Donald Young in the final. Disappointing he couldn't make it over the line but a great week nevertheless. Think he is around 110 with this so AO MD direct entry is likely if he can have another good week or 2. I know he is defending a few ATP wins from end of last year, but only first round wins so nothing major. I think its important for Matt to get the direct entry, he feels he is better than to need a wildcard again at this stage in his career. Would be great for everyone to have this and another WC on offer for someone else.
