Re: Matthew Ebden

The long season caught up with Matty in Helsinki, losing in straights to Ungur 6-4 6-2. Had a great year, now time to rest up and prepare for the year of consolidation.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt has been given a WC to the Brisbane International. If 2 more players pull out he wont need to use the WC and it can be free for another Aussie to use. Hope he doesnt need the WC.

Full summer of tennis guaranteed for Matty before Christmas, that has to feel good.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Very tough. Stepanek has a good record in Brisbane.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)

Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt holding his own against Stepanek in first set, now 4-4 at business end of set and in a deuce duel on his serve with Radek. Go Matty.
Uh-oh, break-point, and Matt unable to hold, Stepanek breaks for a 5-4 lead, then serves out the set 6-4.
Big battle for Matt now but he can do it. Great fighting - breaks Stepanek to lead 2nd set 2-0, and maintains the break, saving some BP's to lead 5-2.
Well done Matt as he squares the set score at 1 set all. Now for the 3rd set, Stepanek serving first.
Radek breaks Matt and holds to lead 4-1. Hang in there Matt, only a single break down.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt in 3rd set at 2-5, 0-40, saves two match-points, then the 3rd to bring up deuce. Can he hold? 2nd deuce, then holds for 3-5, forcing Stepanek to serve for the match. Go Matt.
O-15, 15-15, 15-30, 30-30, 40-30 MP, GSM.

Matt fought hard, must have played well to force Stepanek all the way. Unlucky Matt.

Re: Matthew Ebden

Matt played well and is a big chance of winning of winning a few matches in Sydney or Melbourne if he gets the right draw and can play like he did today.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)

Re: Matthew Ebden

He played very well and fought until the end. Didn't have that finishing shot to get past Thunder Lips though.

Like jmf said, he will win a couple of matches at Sydney and Melbourne with a kinder draw.
