Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread

^This is a very big match for him. Coming back a year older in juniors and just matching your result (unless it's a win) couldn't be a good feeling. Saville came here for the title.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread

I think you have to go back a very long time to find another junior who made it to 3 grand slam finals in their junior career. Nowadays its one and done with these kids.

Luke drops the second 7-5. Currently Luke is 6-3 5-7 0-0*.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread

He won! 6-3 5-7 6-4!

The perfect way to cap an excellent junior career? Or is he planning to play more?

Saville is a great chance at a main draw wild card next year.

I think the plan is for him to play the junior slams and every other tournament in the year will be seniors (with the exception of some lead ups I guess). He has a shot at the winning the calendar year junior slam so I highly doubt he will quit juniors from here. Another reason he would want to keep playing would be that he would probably like to keep the number 1 ranking for the entire year, not sure if that has ever been done before.

Luke would be very lucky to win Roland Garros juniors but if he somehow did he would be in a really good position to win the calendar junior slam considering he is the defending Wimbledon champion. I'm sure Luke will receive wildcards and travel to the challenger in Burnie tomorrow and then Caloundra the week after. As for the AO main draw wildcard next year I think he will need to get some results on the senior tour before TA can warrant giving him a MD wildcard before some of our other players. We made the mistake of playing Kubler too early, let's not do it again with Luke.

He's not playing Burnie. Obviously he missed qualifying but I'm sure if he wanted to play he.could have got a wild card. Perhaps he is taking the.week of.to rest.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread

Well done Luke. Played a great match, good to watch - thanks TA. Congratulations.
He should not play Burnie - has played enough this week and deserves the week off. No need to overplay and injure himself.
Well done Luke. Awesome achievement.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread

Reading his interview, I have to say he has stupid plans for this year. Says he will play all junior slams and try to play some futures, challengers around year end. He is 18 years old and ranked around 1200, which is horrible for his age. Okay, everybody see you can win junior GS titles, now shift to mens events.
Guy has to start playing futures asap if he wants something in tennis. pLaying juniors won't take him anywhere. All of this is obvious, I just don't understand that there is nobody to tell him...
stupid career managements ruin careers.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread

Saville continued his good form from the Aussie Open and won his first round in the Caloundra Challenger against Ebelthite 6-3 6-4. Greg Jones/Michael Look next for Luke.
