Greg beat James Ward 6-3 6-2 to progress to the semi finals. Good win for Jones and now has a chance to win a medal. Good luck mate.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Solid win for Jonesie, saved 5 break points in first 2 service games, 2nd from 0-40. In 2nd set broke Ward 1st games, and broke Ward again to go double break up at 4-1. Then faced 3x bp's in next game at 0-40. Three straight aces from the big serving New South Welshman saw him save and then hold for 5-1. Good going, medal rounds next, so let's hope he can perform as well tomorrow.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Greg is through to the final after outlasting Luczak in 3 sets today. First time I've seen him play for a while and he certainly looks to have improved a lot. He could overpower Somdev in the final who beat Ebden comfortably earlier. Good luck mate.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Not a bad match by Jonesie. Played solid, attacked Looch's 2nd serve and served big when needed. Came from 3-1 down in the first and levelled to get to the tie-break. Looch played the better breaker. Jonesie appeared unruffled and stuck to the task, breaking Looch at 4-4 and then served out the set. Broke Looch again 1st game of 3rd set and went on with it. Good luck to him in the Final. He is a chance as Devvarman has not looked that good, easily beating Ebden, but Jonesies game is different.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Not much traffic on Jonesies forum. Perhaps that is what tennis people think of the Commomwealth Games?

I think Jonesie earned his place in the Final, having wins over James Ward and former top 100 player Luczak.
Well done on bringing home a Silver Medal for Australia Jonesie.

He picked up an injury (heel/ankle) at the end of the first set, of the final, and may be a non-starter for the Tiburon Challenger this week.

Greg plays the now Bosnian Amer Delic in the 1st round of the Knoxville challenger. Pretty tough opener, good luck Jones.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Suffering with a severe bout of flu, Jonesie unfortunately could not close it out in straight sets and ran out of puff in going down to veteran Takao Suzuki 76(10), 67(4), 2-6

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Up and down results with a bad run of injury/illness since the us open!!

Hopefully some training in aus and he can come out firing in a few weeks at the wildcard playoff!!

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread

Jonesie reaps the benefit of some hard off-season training and hitting by getting past the No.4 seed Simon Greul in straight sets. Jonesie dominated with his big serve with 15 aces and also broke Greul three times, but dropped his own serve twice, in getting a 7-6(2), 6-3 win. Go Jonesie
