Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

John won his first round in Rimouski 6-0 4-6 6-1. Next up is fellow Aussie Sam Groth. He has a decent draw and could definitely go deep in this one. Hopefully he wins this one and doesn't have to worry about entry into RG.

One match at a time at the moment. Groth will be interesting. I saw Groth beat Millman at that team comp they had in the 2nd week of AO.

Unfortunately for Sam the ATL tennis was "smash 'm grab" stuff - the sudden death deuce and short set format ideal for a big server, big game player like Sam.

Now he has to perform at a high level for much longer periods against Millman.
If he is serving well, he may be able to pull it off - but must say I fancy Millman.

And I was wrong - Sam wins the 1st set tie-break and brings it home in the second to deal with Millman and advance to the QF round.
Well done Sam...

Comfortable win for John on the clay, not sure clay and altitude are his thing. Hope he plays Reid in the next round his stablemate.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Good one John, so nice to see him have a good year so far. Now plays a North American (that's gotta be a good thing on clay?).

Kosakowski feeding on Aussies in Mexico - beat Reid 75 in 3rd yesterday and repeated the score-line today against Mailman, beating him 64 06 75.
Not John's day, on the clay

Back on the Mexican hardcourts now.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

April 15th. So 2 weeks. He'd need to make the semi's in both weeks at the minimum to go close. Personally, he may get the Wildcard from Tennis Australia. He's now higher than Ebden in the rankings and with Matosevic, Tomic and Hewitt guaranteed of main draw it could be between them both for the final spot.

Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

John deserves the wild card but I suspect they will probably go with a favourite in Ebden who is also with the powers that be in Davis Cup. It doesnt matter much as he will be in main draw contention on his own merits before too long. Marinko, Lleyton and Bernie need to be careful!
