Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

Milkman in 3! He kept the pressure on after dropping 1st set 2-6, to win the 2nd 6-1, then outlasted Marinko in the 3rd to win the set 7-5. Well done John. Plays the winner of Polansky/Skugor, now in a 3rd set tussle.

Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

The Mailman is playing Roman Polansky to make the main draw. Just like today it won't be easy, just keep playing the way he has and the chance is there.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

He is actually playing Canadian Peter Polansky. Polansky lost in straight sets to Klein, Ball and Greg Jones last month so maybe Johnny will get him. It is played over five sets so hopefully Johnnys fitness will show and he will prevail.

Would be good for John to experience his first ever Grand Slam main draw at the US open. If he was to qualify he would move to around 230 in the world and would almost certianly gain entry into challengers for the rest of the year. I think John is a huge prospect for us and he really only needs one or two big results like this to be able to step up to the challenger level every week of the year.

Good luck John. Would be great to see him get into a GS MD.

I think it was a joke about his namesake Roman Polanski who hasn't been through the best of times of late.

Good luck to Johnny. I think he has a great chance to beat Peter Polansky.

Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

Johnny went down in 3 to Polansky. Did well to level the match by winning the 2nd 6-4 but then ran out of steam going down 6-0 in the final set.

Good effort Johnny, keep on progressing mate. Does anyone know if he is going to continue playing next year, I remember something about if he wasn't close to the top 100 he would start concentrating on his studies?

He is still going on as far as I know.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

A good fight from John, going to 3 sets against Polansky. Surprised he went down 6-0 in the 3rd. John normally outlast the other player, suprised the "energiser bunny" ran out of puff.
Also heard a rumour about John not going on seriously with tennis next year, but heard that it was if he wasn't under 300 at the year-end. Who knows what his target is... Would be a pity because he is performing well, super-fit and can only improve from here.
Well done John in the qualies...
Excellent job by Sally Peers as well in qualifying - the only Oz to do so!

Re: John "the Mailman" Millman Cheering Thread

Shame about the third set but he has surpassed expectations this week and hopefully he can finish off the rest of the year with some good performances.

Bad luck John, still learning at his age and experience. By the way, you can add John on Facebook, he appreciates the support on there and tries his best to communicate with his fans.
