Awesome result. Mato must have returned well. Did not have a high percentage of first serves but did win the majority which he landed. Saved 3 break pointsm as did Isner, but Mato saved all of those he faced whilst too tall John saved 3 out of 5.
Very impressive although I only saw the first set. Slow start but after that he was the better player. He had some really nice winners off the backhand side. Nishioka up next so a great chance for Matosevic to record another QF appearance at Delray Beach.
Good first round for Mato in Acapulco - gets the better of Spaniard Marcel Granollers (ATP51) and advnaces to the second round with a 64 62 win.
Most probably plays another Spaniard, the No. 2 seed David Ferrer, in the next round - tough one
I really worry about Marinko right now. If he can't get some good results he may follow a similar path to Ebden, just not as quickly.
Marinko very rarely wins 2 matches, first/second round points in ATP hardly gets you anywhere and eventually he could drop out of the top 100.
I think over the clay season he should drop down to challengers, even if he can find some hard court challengers during those months and try and build himself back up again.
He has now listed Marc Kimmich as his coach. Marc used to coach him years back. I wonder what happened to Ashley fisher? He didnt last long at all similarly Mark Woodforde.
