Re: The Mighty MM

Lost in the semis. Good work here Marinko, these results are very promising. If you keep bringing in performances like these on a consistent basis you are a certainty for a huge ranking boost.

Anyone know how many points he has to defend over the next few months?

Re: The Mighty MM

He has two future tournament wins and a finals appearance to defend late April/May. Great to see him playing well. Becker was never going to be an easy match but his wins before that were very impressive.

11 May 09 Mexico F5 - 16
25 May 09 Mexico F7 - 24
8 June 09 Mexico F8 - 24

Total Points - 64

Current points - 343

Points he will have when he next has to defend points on the 6 July - 279.

Points he has to defend between July-September

6 July 09 USA F14 - 12
20 July 09 Moncton CH - 4
21 September 09 Aus F5 - 12
28 September 09 Aus F6 - 24

Total Points - 52

So between now and the end of September he has 116 points to defend, which isnt that bad really.

Re: The Mighty MM

This is MM's half of the draw in Mexico

Prakash Amritraj IND [8] vs. Riccardo Ghedin ITA
Santiago Gonzalez MEX vs. Marinko Matosevic AUS
Dick Norman BEL [Q] vs. Victor Estrella DOM
Borut Puc SLO [WC] vs. Horacio Zeballos ARG [4]

Santiago Giraldo COL [6] vs. Niels Desein BEL [LL]*
Dawid Olejniczak POL vs. Andre Miele BRA
Vincent Millot FRA [Q] vs. Victor Romero MEX [WC]
Kyu Tae Im KOR vs. Frank Dancevic CAN [2]

With Dancevic now out, if MM can keep up his good form I am sensing another big tournament.

Re: The Mighty MM

Lost to Gonzales in three sets after winning the first set. Disappointing considering he has beaten Gonzales before. He will bounce back next week.

Re: The Mighty MM

Marinko has taken out Somdev Devvarman in round 1 of the US challenger in straight sets. Good for the Australian Davis Cup teams confidence that at least one of our guys can beat Somdev even though i think Guccione would lose to him. Next up for MM is Fischer who he beat in straights two weeks ago. Perhaps another semifinal showing here, that would be great for him. Now hes a chance for the French wildcard and Davis Cup team I believe.

Also No.1 in Insian Davis Cup team who play Aust in Chennai in three weeks!

I think the Ausies will play the same team that beat Thailand but already Hewitt is having second thoughts.

The Indiam sub-continent is as scary place nowdays...risk your life for DC...I don't think so!

Very doubtful that will happen. Hes playing in Spain next week on hard then Israel on hard and then Turkey on hard. Then there is one week between the Turkish challenger and French Open qualies. In that week all the challengers are on Clay so he may play one clay tournament in the lead up to FO qualies but that will probably become irrelevant when you take into account that switching from Hard to Clay can take a couple of weeks to get used to. I'd be happy if he could even win one qulifying match at RG. The time when he is going to gain the most of his points will be between August and November where he'll play lots and lots of Hard court challengers, probably in the US.

Re: The Mighty MM

MM defeats Fischer again and is now into QF. Next match will be tough against either Kendrick or Witten but MM has a chance.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)
