Re: The Mark "Baby Poo" Verryth Cheering Thread!

Mark scored the final spot in the AO Wildcard Playoff.
Hopefully with a good showing here he could convince TA for a QWC into the Open, or a MDWC if he wins it of course.

He also competed in the 18's Nationals this past week.
Was forced to qualify, and did that easily (the only ATP ranked player in the draw LOL)
Then he went on to reach the SF, where he succumbed to #1 seed Brendan Mckenzie 3-6 7-6(2) 6-2.

Mckenzie said "I felt like I played pretty good considering the conditions, it was raining for most of the match and Mark [Verryth] was playing some great tennis so I just had to hang in there and hopefully play well enough to win,"

This result was probably the thing that secured Mark's berth in the WC Playoff.

What a fine win to beat Groth in three! Has a real shot at finishing in the top two and going into the quarters! Should get a AO Q WC now.

That was a great win over Groth. Mark was brought down to earth today by Carsten Ball but that win over Groth was a beauty.

You would think that he will beat Kelly and progress through to the Quarter Finals which would be a great achievement which will most likely place him in line for an AO Qualifying Wildcard.

Injured so out of playoff and replaced by Andrew Gregory. Unfortunately, being a big guy, Mark is injury prone which is a shame. Don't call him 'baby poo' for nothing!

Re: The Mark "Baby Poo" Verryth Cheering Thread!

Hmmm...

I don't really see Verryth as being anything more than Guccione, but in fact much less. If he ever makes the top 150, let me know. When I saw him play I was (quite frankly) disappointed. Sure he has had his fair share of injuries. But if you are having injuries now (at 17) what chance do you have in five years time?

Good luck though, seems like a decent person, hope he can do well in the juniors in January

Mark rocks and I wish him well. I feel that we have lots of potential with the men unlike the women.....sorry Zac but that is the way I see it. I am finished with the wta forum. It is Marinko and co all the way now for me!

Re: The Mark "Baby Poo" Verryth Cheering Thread!

Sorry Scott Hong kong Have to agree with Aussie here.

The fact Mark Veryrth has been spoon fed by TA for 5 or so years now, getting the best of everything available Im wondering with his height and strength being such a bonus why he hasn't done more, yeah great win against Groth but not done much else this year.

I think there is a lot more kids with more raw talent to be tapped into, but again TA are tunnel visioned.

The same as they have been for years......

Re: The Mark "Baby Poo" Verryth Cheering Thread!

Have never seen a player that gets so many injuries as Verryth. Agree with ace ventura and oztennis here - big kid, big serve - might translate eventually into a big game (aka gooch) But i hear that he has lots of attitude - a lazy one apparently - having had numerous warnings and being kicked out of ais a couple of times - might be rumours though ...

I think Verryth is capable of putting up a very good show against Veic and maybe even beating him.

Re: The Mark "Baby Poo" Verryth Cheering Thread!

Lost 7-6(5) 6-1 in quallies, not terrible but would have been great for him to take the first.
Good effort, faded bad in the second set, though.
