Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

yeah Groth should have got the main draw w/c over Tomic.

Mcenzie has weapons his speed and his heart, yeah help Verryth ,he is big and strong,
but don't worry there he and Tomic have had more help than anyone for the past 6 years,

If we want depth

I say help a bunch of them, and stop helping so few....

Thats where they have gone wrong for years, tunnel vision...

Great to see Joe win today.... he's a champ

Go Sam, Go Joe today.

And best of luck to Tomic - he's gonna need it...

Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

Saw Groth play at the wildcard play off in Dec and thought that he was much improved. I saw him play last year and thought that he was a one trick wonder (i.e the serve), however this year felt that his ground strokes had improved enormously. Shame he lost second round of qualies, I'm sure given the opportunity he will do better as he finds his feet at this level

Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

Interesting to see that he is playing at the Auckland qualies. He has a fairly nice draw with Borvanov in the first round although it is likely he will come across Reynolds in the second match. The other half of his section doesn't look overly strong so if he could account for Reynolds he would probably be a real big chance of going through to the main draw which would be great.

I agree. Would like to see the funds and time spent on those two spread amongst a few others - maybe then we can become a tennis nation again that has some depth

Samuel beat Borvanov rather easily today 6/3 6/4. Good work.

Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

I saw his match at the AO against Fish. He played well in the first 3 sets. I hope he plays in the challengers in OZ in the coming weeks.

Marcos Baghdatis Forever!

Through the good and the bad, always my #1, no matter what the rankings say

Probably won't as he and Gajdosova are getting married in the next few weeks.

Gajdosova (now listed as Jarmila Groth) and he are married now, congrats to him for taking one of the few good-looking WTA-girls off the market

Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

Yeah congrats on wedding

Too bad his ranking has suffered a recent nose dive though, on verge of being outside the top 300

Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

Sam is in Spain working hard on his clay game with Felix Mantilla who is making the squad work very hard. Sam is there with Mary Verryth and John Millman. Sam was seeded first last week but lost second round. hoping for better results this week.

Re: Samuel Groth: The Forgotten Australian

7/6 in the third set today as second seed in a 15k event in Mobile Alabama. The match was played indoors as it has been raining a lot. Good luck in the second round.
