he's got to pick it up at events like this and win matches. Yes becker on grass is tough but he really could have won this match

Hold your horses. He's still young, only been on tour, fully since the start of the year. He's had a great year up to now. Be thankful that he's performed well in the slams, and nearly got into the top 50.

A little patience from everyone, and I'm sure David will start performing on a week-to-week basis.

Atlanta's surface is hard, I bet he don't want to play any other surface beside grass

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

yeah but there are some good draws there and he could always have done with some points and a few wins

there'd still be a week where he could coulg go and get some practice on grass courts somewhere

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

He's wise not to play Atlanta. The summers are very hot in Georgia and it's extremely exhausting having to play potentially a week's worth of tennis. A big injury-risk.

David's wise, rest up before the Olympics, go and have a ball while in London, be proud to represent Belgium and don't worry about the result. The need for points will come once he hits the hard-courts, because then he does have points to defend.

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

I'm not sure he wants to.

Coming back for Cibcy Qualies, then playing Winston-Salem & then the US Open is an ideal schedule.

If it doesn't go well for him, he can step down to challengers for one or two events this autumn. There's a flagship event in Mons that I'm pretty sure he'll play for instance.

I feel like I've neglected David these past few weeks, all my attention has been on Ryčka, now though, I'll be keeping a close eye on him and I'll be interested to see what he schedules after the US Open. Is Asia worth it, with his ranking?

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

he's got a tricky little qualies draw with russell than dodid/petzschner

I think he can qualify though. Honestly he needs to, its time to step up at other events that arent grand slams

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

He beat russell 6-4, 2-3 ret.

didnt get to see the match but the troubling stat would be 4 double faults in 3 service games in the second set.

next up is dodig who crushed picasso 6-0, 6-3

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

disappointed in his loss to dodig. I know i need to have patience as he transitions full time however his level just seems to drop so drastically from the slams to the other events on tour.

Re: David Goffin Cheering Thread

Argh, real shame.

If he had qualified, he would have had Troicki then Hewitt. A great chance, but not to be.
