Wow, I'm surprised. Looking at the posts for American players, there are not very many lol. Well, anyone at all know what's been going on with JMG's knee muscle tendinitis or something like that? I'm worried about him. BTW, he's an adorable man!
Well, that was an interesting mental flash I had there. When you posted 'Page Six' I thought you meant that JMG was in the New York Post gossip column for some reason
I don't think he needs his own forum yet, not at this rate. There just isn't that much activity and he doesn't have that many fans here. It took ages to get this thread to five pages and I think most of the posts are from the same 3 or 4 people. Perhaps when he starts winning his matches and moving up the rankings again next season he will get more fans (I am the eternal optimist).
my point exactly give him time people will grow to love him! but then he won't be our special guy anymore everyone will love him! at the moment we're all special for loving him when no one else does!

sorry, didn't mean to get your hopes up! hmm, i wonder what they'd gossip about JMG for  ... "American tennis star Jan-Michael Gambill gets eaten by a shark while swimming on his vacation to Hawaii on Saturday..."
I'm going home for Thanksgiving today, so i might not be checking in on you guys 'til monday. hope nothing *TOO* interesting happens without me! hope you all have a happy thanksgiving!! (well, at least the people from US who celebrate it) and don't get too fat!!
Have a good weekend! I think the surfer guy is still in Hawaii this week, but at least we know what his first tournament will be next year (and I don't think that was his first choice but what can you do...).
If you mean Jan-Michael I would say he would be pretty good friends with his brother Torrey who is(or was) on the tour. Also players tend to stay ok friends with people they play doubles with or knew or played doubles/mixed dobles with on tour or in the juniors(Andy Roddick, Jim Courier, Travis Parrott, Justin Gimblestob, Monica Seles, etc)
I think Brian McVahaly(sp) and a few other ATP players visit and hit with Gambill up in Spokane sometimes...
His best friend is probably his dad. Chuck Gambill is like Jan-Michael's shadow.
His closest friends are Scott Humphries (who actually coached him after the US Open until the end of the year), the Bryan Brothers (he's known them since they were about 11, I think), Graydon Oliver, and Bryan Vahaly. He's pretty good friends with a number of others including Mahesh Bhupathi, Brian MacPhie, and Travis Parrott (he's known the Parrott family for ages). On the women's side, I think he's still pretty good friends with Lindsay Davenport and Monica Seles. That's all I can think of off the top of my head (people he's mentioned to me in the past or whatever).
Thanks Sophie, glad they finally got an updated site up. Let me know if you have any more questions about JanMike. If I can't answer it for you, I'll try to get the info directly from him.

Thank you.
No more question about Jan-Michael for the moment...
But, what about you ? Do you have the luck to see him often ? Do you leave near his town or do you meet him on tournaments ?
Well Sophie (which is also my cousin's name by the way), I wish I could see him more than I do. We met in 2002 at a tournament and he remembered me a few months later in 2003 when we saw each other in San Jose. I was lucky that year, I got to see him 5 times (San Jose, Indian Wells, flew to Houston tournament and he took care of my tickets for me, Los Angeles, and then I flew up to Portland for Superset to surprise him - and it worked). I only saw him twice this year (San Jose and Indian Wells, but we never spoke at IW). Lucky for me, we exchange emails and have IM chats from time to time, so he gives me info for my site and we talk about whatever comes up (oddly enough, we talk about cars a lot, I'm fascinated by his collection of Jaguars and this Aston Martin that he wants to buy). He sent me that picture from his vacation in Hawaii and that was very nice of him to do. Overall, he's a pretty good guy. Hopefully I'll see him again next year at least once. I'd like to see all my other 'tennis boys' too. I'm very fond of some of these guys.
Thank you for your sincerity Fee.
Jan-Michael is lucky : he has a very very good fan !
You cheer him, you respect him and you have a very good website...
Thanks! yeah, we have a lot of birthdays in my family around thanksgiving... me, my sister, my dad, my mom, my uncle, and my aunt) so we just celebrate at thanksgiving. it's great!
What kind of Aston Martin does JMG want? i've always liked astons, and i think it's awesome that me and one of my favorite tennis players share a love for them. there are a few things that i can talk about for hours, and 2 of those things are tennis and cars. my favorite aston is the DB7 vantage, but i bet JMG likes the v12 vanquish... just a guess though. it's the more expensive of the 2, but they look similar.
i know i heard that JMG likes playing xbox in his time off (especially Halo), so do you know if he has Halo 2 yet? that's also something i like... i wish i could play with him... hehe it would be fun.
He's wanted a DB9 for over a year now. I accused him of 'cheating' on Jaguar the first time he told me, so he won't always discuss it with me ( ). I think he's going to get it once his house is finished. He is definitely a videogame junkie, but he plays so many of them I would have to ask him what his favorite is these days. How good are you at Halo 2? You never know, you might end up playing him one day if you knew someone with connections...
geez, i wish i had enough money to buy one of those! they're like $150,000 or more!
