Borna Coric is the best Croatian junior player, he is the youngest player in the top 100 (39), one of the most talented young players in the world so he deserves his own thread.
Tomorrow starts a G1 tournament in Traralgon, Australia. In the first round Borna will play against Stefano Napolitano- #10 on the junior ranking.Napolitano is 1 year and 7 months older than Borna and he is #8 seeded on this tournament.
Really nice test for Borna in 1st round of Zagreb Futures 2. He will play vs Adam Pavlasek, semifinalist in singles and finalist in doubles at junior AO this year (7th in the world). He is really climbing well in pro's too.
Maybe Borna can win, who knows.
Hahaha I didn't know that he is Kvitova's boyfriend...
Next match Borna will play against 28 years old Richard Bloomfield who is #438 on ATP list and that could be the end for Borna on this tournament but nevermind he did a great job this two weeks already.
Here is Borna with another Croatian junior, Filip Veger at this year's AO (Borna is the one in the white shirt)QUOTE]
Man, than you very much for this picture !!!!!
I really like Borna attitude on this picture Something similar he acts on that video befor Orange Bowl U-14 final. Without that attitude you can',t reach the very top. "I am the best and I know it", full of confidence. Remindes me on Djokovic, Tomic, Krajinovic. But not that arogant like first two.
I like Filip, too. They are really only good prospects from Croatia.
And one good thing: Borna is higher than 181 because Veger has 185 atleast and they are equal high.
ATP-ranking
1172. Tal Goldengoren ISR
1294. Blake Mott AUS
1358. Francisco Bahamonde ARG
1499. Borna Coric CRO
1499. Daniil Medvedev RUS
1602. Christian Garin CHI
1710. Thanasi Kokkinakis AUS
1783. Gianluigi Quinzi ITA
1783. Lautaro Pane ARG
My mistake but I was simply looking the top juniors born in 1996 where they are on ATP level...I didn't assume that there are players that are way out of top 100 in junior competition and already playing senior tournaments...but it's ridiculous...this Tal Goldengoren for example...he is only 15 years old and he played 10 senior tournaments already (of course all of them are in Israel) and that's not all, almost every tournament he played senior or junior are in Israel.Sorry but that's not interesting to me.He is officially the best player born in 1996 on ATP list but for real he is no near Coric or Quinzi in quality or talent for sure...and he will not be #1 for a long time I'm sure in that...
he already won in this tournament 20 points in single if he lose this match...and 5 points in doubles also if he lose with his partner...I hope he will do something more because he is #3 seed in single and #1 seed in doubles...good luck Borna
sorry my bad...i see now that I'm wrong...didn't realize there are also points from remaining tournaments...I saw only best ones which is countable to final ranking...sorry
Total fall off for Borna in Thailand...he lost 6-2 6-2 in 2nd round of singles and lost in doubles with Nikola Milojevic 6-1 6-3 also in 2nd round...no new points for Borna
Fail was to go on that tournament. That was clear from the first day he signed in. There is no any fall beside that. And his opponent is great player if he is able to beat Borna that easy, both in singles and doubles along Nikola Milojevic.
Borna will play on two more tournaments (Grade 1; hard) in Asia. First one this week in Malyasia and 2nd one on Phillipines next week.
After that he will be one week off and than will start with clay season: first station will be in Florence (Grade 2).
Borna lost to Milojevic 5:7, 6:4, 4:6 and lost in the finals of doubles 4-6 6-4 [10-7]. So, it was close in both matches.
He will be 28th on new list, 2nd among his generation again.
Borna is 34th in the new rankings, new carrer high. And he is 2nd among his generation.
The draw for his next tournament is out. He is free in the 1st round and will probably play vs Harry Bourchier in 2nd which he beat last week (6:2, 6:3).
Good thing is he isn't in Milojevic's half than Krstin (he allready beat him in straights on his home soil). If he wins whole thing he will be 15th and will be seed at RG (he can do it but maybe he is tired beacuse of last week).
